My daughter has been potty training for 2 weeks the first week was hell the second was terrific then yesterday she fractured her arm and has a cast. Now she has been having accidents should I just let it go and put her in a diaper or keep going and if so how do you do that with the cast. She finds it hard to get up and sit down. I do help her but she still has difficulties

When my son was just fully potty trained he had broken his leg and was in a 1/2 body cast with the crotch cut out. I had to potty train him again after he got out of the cast, which was really really easy the 2nd time. I wouldn't put the pressure on her. Just help her if she wants help to go potty. She may no longer feel comfortable going in the diaper. She will get used to this cast quicker than you might think. A word of warning though...if she does start feeling comfortable enough to go potty by herself again before the cast comes off, make sure she knows not to use the broken hand to wipe with.

Back off for a while until she gets the cast off, then try again. Any time kids have started potty training and then have some sort of trauma in their life, the potty training will regress and they'll start having accidents. It's just too much for their little minds to grasp more than one challenging situation at a time.

So have some patience and don't give up hope. Once she has the cast off, start the potty training again and I'm sure she'll do great! Hang in there!!

(And definitely make sure she doesn't feel like a "bad girl" for having to go back to diapers or pull ups.)

I can see how it would be a little more difficult to deal with while wearing the cast but you have started and you need to continue with the potty training.

You can overlook the accidents by telling her it's okay that they happen but that she needs to continue to tell you when she needs to go and that you will help her to the potty when it's time.

If she is out of diapers, I definitely wouldn't put her back into them, that will just confuse her and you need to stay consistent in how you train her. She needs to learn the even if something else is different in her life other things still need to stay the same.

Just help her as much as you can. Praise her when things go well but don't scold her if they don't. It might take you a little longer to train her with the cast but just keep at it and she will learn.

Good luck to you and your little one. I hope the arm is mending well.

Don't turn back now. Keep at it, and help her. If she will tell you when she needs to go, that's great. Otherwise, remind her, every once in awhile, and bring her to the potty and you take her pants down for her, and sit her up. She will heal, and be all trained by the time, her cast comes off! Don't go back to diapers, move forward.

Is this up and down on the big potty, or her own little one? If it's the big one, you should consider getting a small one for her so it eliminates the need to climb up and down with only one arm. Avoid diapers if you can; it was only yesterday she's had a cast and kids are brilliant at coping with situations like this. Good luck!

The best thing to do is to wait till shes had her cast removed then start again, you have to think that her little life has been turned upside down with her breaking her arm. i know its fustraiting but if you just persevere things will work out

I would back off a little but remind her that she has to do that. Just ask her if she needs to go and let her go and you help. Tell her youll help but when it comes off she has to go back to doing it herself

SHE still could tell you. And you could help her to the rest room.
