Notice how wicca emerged from their Satanic roots in the 80's ? After the bad PR from sacrifices(human and animal), rape, etc they decided to try another tactic-let's go for the nature lover's route.Let's stop the sacrifices and reinvent our religion.

Read LeVey's Satanic Bible- the similarities between it and "wicca" are striking.

to the witch: Or maybe you're afraid I'd pizz you off so much you'd end up hitting me with your broomstick and then you'll end up having nothing to fly on Halloween.

Satanism and Wicca are actually two different things. Wicca actually goes back to the 1950's and was started by Gerald Gardner, a disciple of Aleister Crowley. According to Adian Kelly in the book Crafting the Art of Magic, Gardner started it as a way to be tied up and beaten by strong willed women (he was a nudist and masochist).

While Wicca and Satanism are different, they do have some commonalities. Wicca borrows terms from the Middle Ages such as "witch", "coven", "sabbat", etc. as well as imagery of cauldrons and brooms, etc. These things are associated with Gothic Satanism rather than Paganism.

Wiccan authors like Raven Grimasi and Paul Huson call "The Watchers" the gods of modern witchcraft. The Watchers are fallen angels (devils) from Judeo-Christian Theology, like Azzazel. Wiccans will say these beings are misunderstood by Christians, which is the same argument theistic Satanists would make. Feminist Wiccans seem very facinated with Lilith, yet another Judeo-Christian devil, and has nothing to do with Paganism.

So While Wicca isn't Satanism, it does have some things in common with it, just as Thelema has Satanic overtones in it as well. Thelema worships Pagan gods like Horus, but also believes Aleister Crowley, a psychotic who called himself "The Great Beast 666" was a "demigod". There is also a lot of anti-Christian rehtoric and blasphemy peppered through out it's literature. So while not Satanism, it has Satanic elements.

I'd like to point out a few flaws in your analagy.
Wicca was first publicized by Gerald Gardner in the 1950's, but is actually alot older form of worship stems from ancient Pagan roots. The Satanic Panic that you are talking about, was widely fabricated by the media to scare people into giving money to fraudulent organizations and give money to the Christian church. Wicca is vastly different from Satanism because we acknowledge Gods that Satanism does not. Do you even know what Satanism is? Is has nothing to do with the Christian devil.

I have read the Satanic Bible,. it has little similarities. There are more similaritites to Christianity and Wicca.

I think you should actually research things before you make assumptions.

People like you, love to provoke arguments. Wicca is a Pagan offshoot, and I'm not going to bother saying the What, How, Where and Why, as I know you could care less. The Satanic Bible has nothing to do with Wicca, and It was in fact merged together from old Pagan roots in the 30's. We don't sacrifice anything, and are not asking you to join. We did not 'reinvent' our roots. Get some facts before giving out misinformation.

Wicca is a new age religion started in the 1940's by Aleister Crowley based on ancient pre-christianity pagan practices. Anton LeVey actually took many aspects from Wicca in his teachings and started the church of Satan in the 1966, 9 years after the founder of Wicca"s death.
Yes Wiccans believe in many of the same aspects as Satanics, but we have different attitudes, gods and goddess, and Wiccans do not believe in the devil or hell. Just because a Christians and a Muslims both believe in Prophets and prayer does that make them the same religion? No it just means they share some of the same practices.

Next time do some research before bashing another's religious beliefs

Actually the reason they are similar in some ways is because they both draw from some of the same sources, namely ceremonial magic, freemasonry, and the works of Aleister Crowley. The book Witchcraft Today which essentially began Wicca was published in 1954, three decades before you claim it began.

Also, Satanists who follow the teachings of Anton LeVey don't perform sacrifices, mostly because they don't follow a deity so they don't have anything to sacrifice to. In fact they see small children and animals as the only innocent beings on this earth and thus deserving of incredible respect. There is also no ritualistic rape in Levey's Satanism.

I really suggest you read up on both these religions, particularly the histories behind both of them.

I am not a wiccan nor a satanist but I know that the Wiccan's main belief is "to do no harm" so obviously the two religions are very different. Wicca is really a revival of ancient pagan religions. They do not worship satan and therefore are not satanists.

Wicca started in the 40's in England (sorry to ruin your day). What bad PR? Please provide some back up for this, as not even the FBI can provide links to this type of thing. www.fbi.org Do a Search on Ritual Killing...

LaVay liked Crowley. So did Gardner, the man who is accredited with starting Wicca. They each took different ideas from Crowley and used them. Do what you will, this is the whole of the law... is one of Crowley's sayings. Gardner used it in this fashion. "Harm none, do what you will". Yes, some striking similarities, just like Dionysus was crucified on the cross, had 12 disciples, walked on water and his first miracle was turning water into wine. A search on Roman Myths, Dionysus, should bring this up for you.

I suggest, before you decide to try to be insulting to people and their religions, that you know what you are talking about first.

Wicca emerged in the 80's? Ummmm......perhaps you should go back and get your sources verified. The fact that some beliefs are shared by various religions is nothing new. There are similarities between the three-fold law and the Christian "you reap what you sow". By your logic, that would mean that Wicca=Christianity.

For those of you who keep saying that we are 'against god' how can you be against something you BELIEVE IN? Just because we believe there is a woman with him too? Oh and you are seriously misinformed about Satanism. You should look it up and really understand what you are reading, not read what you think is there. Trust me, I believed a lot of the rumors about satanism and wicca for a long time. But I suppose that without an open mind you are just a sheep awaiting the slaughter. One day you'll see. By the way, I could have said a whole lot of nasty things about christians, but do you know why I abstained? DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU! Plus that little factiod of WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND! And in my belief it'll come around threefold. MAY THE GOD AND GODDESS WATCH OVER YOU LITTLE LAMB AND BRING YOU ENLIGHTENMENT AND LOVE WHERE THERE IS ONLY DARKNESS AND HATE. = )> )o(
