that's an old wives tale. the hair you see exposed on your head is actually dead and your body cannot affect it in any way beyond letting it fall out

This happens when something very shocking, say a huge near death experience happens. Example: A person almost dies in a car accident and their hair was brown and is now white. A gene, a mutations, heredity can activate the white hair.

It can't. It's a total myth. It is not biologically possible.
