HOW LONG SHOULD WE FAST & SHOULD THEY PRAY?
Al-Baqara | 286 verses | The Cow سورة البقرة
Sura #2 | Madina
187 Then strictly observe the fast till nightfall and touch them not, but be at your devotions in the mosques. These are the limits imposed by Allah, so approach them not. Thus Allah expoundeth His revelation to mankind that they may ward off (evil).

IS FASTING COMPULSORY?
NO. it is an obligatory fardh -- for those who can. if a person is sick, or travelling, elderly, pregnant and lactating women can skip their fasts.

QU'RAN -- Al-Baqara | 286 verses | The Cow سورة البقرة
Sura #2 | Madina
183 O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, even as it was prescribed for those before you, that ye may ward off (evil);
184 (Fast) a certain number of days; and (for) him who is sick among you, or on a journey, (the same) number of other days; and for those who can afford it there is a ransom: the feeding of a man in need - but whoso doeth good of his own accord, it is better for him: and that ye fast is better for you if ye did but know -
185 The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the Criterion (of right and wrong). And whosoever of you is present, let him fast the month, and whosoever of you is sick or on a journey, (let him fast the same) number of other days. Allah desireth for you ease; He desireth not hardship for you; and (He desireth) that ye should complete the period, and that ye should magnify Allah for having guided you, and that peradventure ye may be thankful.

SHOULD WE IGNORE OUR PARTNERS DURING THE MONTH OF RAMADHAN?
Al-Baqara | 286 verses | The Cow سورة البقرة
Sura #2 | Madina
187. It is made lawful for you to go in unto your wives on the night of the fast. They are raiment for you and ye are raiment for them. Allah is Aware that ye were deceiving yourselves in this respect and He hath turned in mercy toward you and relieved you. So hold intercourse with them and seek that which Allah hath ordained for you, and eat and drink until the white thread becometh distinct to you from the black thread of the dawn.

what CHANGE it brought among Muslims?.
u dont have to prepare urself for a fast. u have to prepare urself to persevere and to control ur entire system -- body, mind and soul. Ramadhan is not just about fasting, its time for us to learn to keep ourselves in control. it is a time where one can learn to deal with the evil things and intentions and looking forward to being a better human being. it is a time to learn to forgive and ask for forgiveness. Ramadhan is the time for people to better themselves in virtues of endurance, patience and forgiveness. thats what its all about. it is the time to learn to give.

may the peace and blessings of Allah(God) be with us and may He guide us in the right path. may He shower His mercy on us and protect us.

Ofcourse! Praying and fasting are 2 of the 5 pillars of Islam. Whether in Ramadan or not, Muslims must pray. In Ramadan, Muslims must fast. That doesn't have to do anything with prayers.

Observance of the sawm (fasting), or siyam, involves abstinence from eating, drinking, smoking, sexual intercourse, unruly thoughts, and other forms of worldly pleasure. This fasting is ordained in the Qur'an, and is observed by devout Muslims throughout the daylight hours of the 29 or 30 days of the lunar month of Ramadan. There are some exceptions, for example for children, pregnant women and sick Muslims. Children do not have to fast until puberty.

As well as fasting, Muslims spend more time praying during this period. Sawm is intended to teach patience and self-control, and is seen as a debt owed by the believer to Allah.

Why would they not pray when fasting? Fasting and praying go hand in hand---it is not just for muslims. Lots of Christians fast and pray.

We are required to pray 5 times a day as it is. Our fasting will not be accepted if we don't do the prescribed prayers. Otherwise all we are experiencing is simple hunger for no reason.

Fasting includes, among other things, doing all the prayers, or it doesn't count!

Salams.
