when a baby has colic he cries a lot. the reason is that the baby has gas and it causes stomach crams.some babies digestive system is not fully functional and sometimes it causes extreme gas. this gas is called colic. my son had colic for 5 months. this is what i did for him.he used to get it everyday from 10 o clock at night and it used to last till the wee hours of the morning.the doctor prescribed an anti colic medicine and special milk for my baby.that helped a bit.also i used to lay him on him stomach which helped to pass the gas. but some nights he used to cry and nothing could stop his pain. then i used to walk for hours with him on my shoulder .and in some nights i used to play music on the stereo. the music used to calm him down. and also there were times when nothing worked. then i used to give him sleeping syrup which the doctor prescribed.my advice is that goto the doctor and get necessary medication.also you have to be very calm and patient about this.remember you are not alone. think of this as a daily routine and accept it.it usually continues upto 5 months or even more. hang in there.try to find the time when your babies colic attacs and be prepared beforehand. usually colic comes in a certain time. my son used to have it all night. but at daytime he was fine.wish you all the best.

I don't think anybody knows what colic is some say the baby was born too early or we are nervous mothers. Get one of those sound machines, one with a vacumne, rain etc sound. You can find one in on the Internet or check Ebay. I happened to find mine at Marshalls. A must have is a swing with music. Buy that Swaddle blanket. Good Luck, the crying really does stop after about 3 months but by then your pissed off and bald. (if you don't get these items).

Colic is a very bad tummy ache for a newborn, usually happens the same time everyday for a period of a few days to a few weeks. typically breastfed babies won't be as coloicy as bottlefed babies. Not a whole lot can sooth colic other than loving on your baby and holding he or she close. All they can do is scream or fuss to express themselves. Bare with that beautiful baby and know that it won't last much longer. If however it last more than a week, take him or her to the pediatrician and discuss some other formula. If your breastfeeding.....nurse, nurse, nurse. Nurse that baby as much as he or she will nurse. You'd be surprised how many things that will help along the way. Here is a link for you to check out. Very good luck and best wishes

Colic is due to digestive problems with babies under the age of 1. Normally the child gets gassy and or spits up due to allergic reaction or inability to breakdown enzymes in milk, soy, or grains. We have two breastfed kids that were that way and my wife went dairy-free until each kid was a year old. When you notice symptoms, in breastfed kids, diet change helps immediately but is not completely gone for about 3 weeks. Bottlefed kids need a change in formula until you find the least problematic formula. Most parents think cow's milk is important for growth in a child's diet. I disagree, cow's milk is naturally made for cows. Our kids cannot digest it properly. Human milk is easily digested by humans. Goat's milk is a close alternative. Also, do you children a favor, do not feed them solid food until abou 6 months old. Remember to be kind to their still developing digestive systems. Happy parenting.

Sometimes I have found that just holding the baby close and walking with them can help to soothe the discomfort. In my experience there is no real cure.. some say give them sugarwater.. and others have said try different formulas, especially soy based.. I say try to hang in with patience.. as it is a temporary thing..

Try warming a towel in a dryer and wrapping your baby. He/she may have gas and that should help make him/her feel better.
