My husband and I would really love to change the way our bedroom looks. Our room is a small master's bedroom with a high cathedral ceilling (approx 16 ft.). Our furniture is the outdated (but I love it so much!) bleached oak. What colors would go with that? Something not to stand-outish maybe??

The color doesn't have to be one most people consider "sexy" as long as you use lots of texture in the fabrics and accessories to give the room sensuality. If you are keeping the bleached oak furniture try a light green on the walls ( gender neutral but very serene ) and cover the bed with a plump, luxurious comforter made with a textured raw silk or close imitation in a rust or gold color and pile some pillows with plush trims on the bed. A plush neutral carpet, some sheer curtains at the window that will billow in the breeze, and a few tropical plants can make this a romantic, exotic hideaway.

I suggest you start thinking about what puts you two in the mood. Pretty personal stuff for someone else to guess at. Anyway, use that as a spring board. That should get you thinking about lighting options that suit you. How about music? Should the bed be enclosed in draperies (harem style?) for modesty, or wide open in the middle of the room for freedom of wild movement? Should the floor be carpeted with extra padding underlay? Should the room be light and airy or should the colours be deep and rich? Do you need a bedside table to store toys or accessories?

try websites( searches) for insperation like. home decorating, interion design ideas, go to diy network, or TLC's trading spaces. I have found so many ideas it;s not funny. Oh, also the christopher lowell show web site. you can even try to go to websites like behr( the paint place), and they have it where you can try paint colors on the walls to give you and idea of what your room could look like. I like the chinese look with candles. lots of candles i might add. well hope this helps

If the windows in the room are normal windows you reduce the ceiling height.
