When should you stop feeding a baby baby food? - My daughter is 11 months old and eats both baby food and real food. She does great on real food and the only reason I see to feed her baby food is convienence. Is it okay to stop feeding her the baby food? I don't see any reason why not but I really haven't heard anything on the topic. Thanks in advance.

You can toss the baby food. As long as she is at a healthyy wieght, you're fine. Mine is 9 months and totally off baby food except for formula and baby cereal in the morn for extra iron.

At 11 months she should be off baby food and eating table food by herself. Make sure that the food is cut small enough and is soft enough that she doesn't choke. Peanut butter is not good for them under age 2. They can choke on it real easy. She should not be drinking from a bottle. The bottle will fill her up with formula and she really needs the nutrittion the food give her at this age. Always surpervise a young child when they are eating.

It's fine to stop the baby food is she's eating a variety of table foods. Just make sure what you're feeding her is healthy and good for her.

She will let you know. Just keep doing what you are doing. Eventually you can go to the canned pears, versus baby food pears, etc. I am sure she can eat real corn and peas already, but things like green beans she may prefer pureed. My daughter began eating regular food, but then during the start of self feeding we gave her more babyfood (I made it -- thicker than gerbers, etc) because she would only eat what she could spoon. Just follow her lead, let her try things and she will be well on her way to the world of regular food.

At 11 months It should not matter as long as it is healthy. My daughter never liked baby food so I just blended regular food and gave it to her starting at 7 months.

Try giving her the gerber graduate foods. They have all kinds of different foods that are as good in nutrients as the baby food.Thats what I did with my daughter when she was about 10 months. She loves being able to feel independent with feeding herself. But honestly do what you feel is best for you and your daughter. Hope I helped alittle..

If she's eating regular food, you can just keep feeding it to her.
Some baby food is fortified so if you stop giving her fortified baby cereal then you should have an alternative like vitamins. Otherwise, like you said, it's all about convenience, so if it's still easier for you to give her baby food do what's best for you. It's not harming her, though it may be more costly.

My daughter is one and a half and we feed her a combination of our food and baby food to make sure she gets a good variety of foods and also for convenience. Baby food isnt BAD for your baby, they make it in different stages and have toddler foods and everything.

I'd say it's fine to take her off of baby food as long as you're sure she's getting everything she needs from the table food.

I think when they are getting all their nutrients from "real food" is when it is ok to stop feeding baby food. I do know they are supposed to breastfeed, or formula feed until they are one year old though.
