I'm a diabetic on insulin. I do cheat a lot, especially with ice cream as it's my downfall. I have excellent blood sugar levels, and all other 3-4 month checks are outstanding and excellent. No issues there. The question I have is in regard to exercise. I know that it helps to not only keep weight off, but also helps with diabetes. Trouble is I am not disciplined, not even close, and do not exercise at all. I know that walking is great as well, but don't like that either. So does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do regularly but not in a way that I'd have total dedication to it but yet help me when I do decide to eat lots of ice cream, go overboard and cheat like crazy????????????

You don't want to excercise regularly, but you also don't want to do the easy stuff like walk. Not that many people LIKE to excercise but they do it anyway. I'm a lot like you, but I've noticed that once you start excercising, you start to feel better about it and yourself. It can just be something like a 5min walk each day. Can you do 5 minutes? Not 4. Not 6, but 5?? Just 5. Go for a 5 minute walk right now. Then just do the same thing tomorrow. Tell me if you notice ANY changes with your health or mental state.

I am a diabetic as well and find myself slacking as well. What many have said was to join a gym, but that was way too easy to say no to each. What has helped is that I joined kickboxing classes. Knowing that there is a start time and there is a class that will be covering the same thing, I found myself wanting to go. The workout is outrageous, but beyond worth it. The best part is that afterwords, whatever I eat is justified. The only problem is mixing the right amount of insulin for the right amount of energy needed. If not a class, there is always the carbIQ ice cream, which is like half the amount of carbs than other ice creams and made with splenda.

What about dancing or swimming or yoga? You should pick some sports that feels good to do..... and is also not too tiring, not boring (that's why people get lazy over it).
Like, for example, I believe in jogging but I get totally bored with it if I go every day on the same road.....
Cycling is also a good idea... if you cannot do it outside (traffic, no proper bike roads, whatever), try a fitness bike, for example..... one can watch TV or listen to music in the meantime... not that bad!

Simple. If you have elevator and stairs available to you, take the elevator up, and the stairs when you go down. There have been several studies that show downhill or down stairs excercise is great for lower blood sugar and triglycerides.
