I work in a residential treatment center for children with emotional/behavioral disorders. Residential treatment is very effective in that it offers 24 hour supervision and observation of the child, allowing for more educated decisions regarding medication. Individual, group, and family therapies are other very effective features of residential treatment. Here is a link for the treatment center where I work. Go to the Gerard - Austin Campus link.

Oh, yeah.........been going through it since July 2004 when my middle son, Ryan, then 18 yrs had a huge pshcotic break. Since then 17 hospitalizations. Got a court order on him after the 1st six months when he refused to go back into the hostipal & really needed to. I called the crisis center & they walked me through the process of getting him hospitalized against his will. He's now 20 & is currently in a dual diagnosis center in San Clemente, Calif. He has been collecting SSI for quite a while now. Email me if you'd like to chat. God bless our kids. Barbara, barbaraissa@cox.net.

If this drags out then get an attorney who specializes is social security. It'll be worth the money. and no they, apparently, do not outgrow it-it's meds forever. I can not even imagine the horror you're going through. teens are a handful, bi-polar is far worse--times 2? If you still have your sanity, then you're tougher than anyone I know.
