My vote is for Spike Spiegal of Cowboy Bebop. He is the epitome of an anti hero. Who is yours?

I am aware of what it means to be an an anti hero and Spike exudes those qualities. He is an anti hero because while he is generally a good person, he is not above lying, deception, murder, and/or theft to accomplish his goals.

The greatest anti-hero, in my opinion, might just be Nicholas D. Wolfwood from Trigun.
Here is a guy who has morals and tries to do what is "right" but his conception of "right" is skewed by the fact that he has to do what is necessary to survive. Killing, deception and whatnot are all acceptable to him if they are used in order to protect those he has sworn to protect.

Captain Harlock, Matsumoto's classic space pirate/freedom fighter. There's a great episode where these two evil alien women are trying to crush his ship The Arcadia between two asteroids. Instead of solving the problem in a creative, peaceful manner, Harlock simply shoots them both until they are dead. Anti-hero for the win!

Vegeta FTW with Scar from Fullmetal Alchemist at a close 2d. Scar and Vegeta are very similar in that both start up off as villains then kinda eases somewhat and earlier you recognize it they alter into somewhat likable characters.

That would have to be Dark Schneider from 'Baatard'...the most vain...conceited...arrogant...full of himself anti-hero that has ever existed...
Tom Cruise would have to go back to school to learn how to be so full of himself...
this guy is one of anime's unforgettable characters...and he made me laugh 'till I darn near peed on myself...
this a cool dude...in a loose mood...except when you threaten one of his friends...then all bets are off...
