The job part depends on your ASVAB score. If you score high in administrative area you could be a YN or a PN, if you score high in mechanics you could be a jet engine mechanic, it all depends on what you make on your ASVAB.
When you go to the fleet be prepared to go to 1st Lt. or the mess decks because no matter where you are trained you still have to do those duties.
There is the Delayed Entry Program.
Being stationed? It was said and agreed upon, be prepared to go where and when the Navy wants you.
To break the myth of being out at sea for 6 mos., you aren't at "sea" for 6 mos. because you have port call that could put you anywhere in the world. For example: Hawaii, Japan, Australia, Greece, Italy, etc.

Expect to be bored to death, it is a very long process. Don't take a job unless you really want it, there is always delayed entry program, so you can pick a job that won't be available immediately. My DEP was over two months but well worth it because I got the MOS I wanted.
There is nothing to do about being stationed, get used to the idea of going wherever the Navy wants to send you. Sometimes honor graduates are given the choice to pick the next station, but not always.

I didn't feel like I was pressured. I scored in the 98 percentile on the engineering test and they wanted me to go into the nuclear field. I turned it down, because I didn't want to be on a submarine. I ended up taking Gas Turbine Systems Technician - Advanced Technical Field.

Well, its going to be the most boring day of your life. A lot of the people there seem to enjoy bossing around teenagers so be ready.
As far as the job goes. I would say don't sign if they don't give you what you want, but even if they don't and say its "normal" and you can get it changed later. You will be OK because you CAN get out of the DEP. They won't hold you to that contract, but when you sign on your ship date they WILL hold you to your contract.

HURRY UP AND WAIT... you will learn this well tomorrow my dear they rush you in and then they make you wait. Be agressive and why aren't you in a hotel somewhere? How are you on the internet. Your suppose to be secluded in a hotel. You control the situation If it's not in black and white it's not a guarantee. If you don't like what they're offering get up and walk out

they'll try and fill the needs of the navy, but fight for what you want. if they wont give it to you, leave and try again another day. they need people, so they'll give it to you eventually. dont sign anything until you have exactly what you want in your contract. just tell them that you want to be a.....whatever it is you want to be. good luck to you.
