Mentally probably but not physically. After a time talking to someone you connect on an intellectual level. But when I had met them in person, it seemed intellect and humor went out the window. Chemistry and presence, ettiquet, etc, how he acts around you and the people around you, etc..took a big part in deciding whether to move forward with the relationship.
Ive gotten a kind of pushiness to commit to that person on first dates and always scares me away also. You always hope it will go well, smooth and that there's chemistry, but it's rare.

Before I met my wife, I internet dated quite a bit. Only on 3 occasions did I find that I had been lied to. 2 times it was a physical lie (oh I'm only 120, turning into weighing more then me 6'3" 225, yikes) and 1 time was completely duped on age (waaaaay older) I met them, told them I didn't appreciate the dishonesty, and left. So out of.. lets say.. 20 Meetings, 3 were bad. Thats 85% to the good! Just make sure its in a very public place and if you can swing it, a friends with you. Can never be to safe.

I've met several people off the net and it varied. There were a couple that were WAY better. Then there were others that were not so good. If people are honest then I think they should be how you imagine them. Now with everyone having online pics, and webcams there shouldn't be any real surprises.

I met my husband on line. We dated 3.5 years then got married last December. He is what I imagined and even more. I have found my soul mate and the LOVE of my life. He has 3 children and I have 2. So, you know that it has to be good in order to take on a challenge like this :0)

Sometimes. But everyone know that the person you e-mail, the person you talk on the phone with and the person you actually meet are actually 3 different people. Plus pics can be decieving. Sometime you wonder if they sent their cousin or sister on the actual date.....lol
