Two of my sons have eczema. I used to use the steroid creams and lotions but since then I have learned a great deal. First, eczema is usually secondary to allergies whether they are environmental or food related. Second, try using a soap that is pure with very little or no fragrance. I use Ivory you can also use Cetaphil. Ivory is way less expensive and I have had great luck with it. I also found out that using TIDE laundry detergent makes my kids breakouts worse. I tried everything coming and going but have finally found that the very inexpensive stuff is great and washes the clothes just as well as the expensive stuff. Third, eczema will also appear when there is a lack of zinc. Find a lotion with a high concentration of zinc. I use this stuff I got off the internet called SkinZinc. It's wonderful. It comes with a bottle of spray that you use first. Spray all the areas then an hour later you apply the lotion. After you apply the lotion, you can't even tell there was a eczema spot there. It has truly been a miracle for us.

Until this, we had tried Protopic, Elidel, Desowin, and something else I can't remember. The desowin helped more than any of the others but not like the SkinZinc.

I hope this helps you and your daughter. The web site is:

Ok this may sound weird, but I had some spots of eczema on my chest and finger a while back and I also went to a dermatologist who gave me a steroid cream, which did not work. It began to spread and was very uncomfortable. But I found something that worked!! I have told other people that said they have it, and they said it worked for them too. It's Carmex! So simple, yet if you think about it, it's a moisturizer, and it's slightly medicated. Mine cleared up within a couple weeks and never came back. Hope this helps anyone out there with this problem!

Children and the elderly have the weakest immune response. Immune response can be dramatically compromised by drugs and chemicals.
Avoid Aspartame and Caffeine like the proverbial plague.
She must be drinking at least 1 liter of bottled still mineral water per day - no coke and garbage like that.

Eczema is an immune related disease, it is no longer a medical mystery that can only be resolved using drugs and chemicals (they serve to address a few symptoms at most).
Eczema appears when skin cells go bonkers, reproducing too quickly, that's all it is. They are allowed to do their worst simply because the immune system cannot recognize them, as a result of a group of missing complex carbohydrates. The latter can be replaced quite easily, without chemical treatments or surgery and gets to the root cause rather than commit her to a life-long endless routine of plastering chemicals all over her.

Please be aware the external signs of failing immune response are by far the best warning, because they give you a chance to address the problem early on. Removing the favorite killers from her diet completely will be a good start.

Good luck.

Use the steroid cream on it until it clears up. Then use lubriderm or aquaphor on it every day--twice a day. Often, eczema is allergy related. Try elimating potential allergens from her diet and see if it helps to clear it up. Other than that, there's nothing you can do. I'm sorry she is being made fun of. I hope that this helps.

I ran a day care for several yrs, and I think the steroid cream is the remedy but can you follow that up with hydrachortizone cream which depending on the strength you get can only be administered 2 times per day. I also used eucerine cream on their skin as a moisturier

If I were you, I would continue using the steroid cream, pretty much non-stop. Also, if it's worse in the winter, then it may be aggravated by dryness. Soooooo keep it moisturized, and be diligent about it. Good luck.

Try Eurcerin Cream, not the lotion. Excema can be stress related also. You could also try a prescription strength hyrdocoritisone cream.

Good luck

Long shot... I have exzcema -- bumps. Eating corn-chips is -- for certain -- the cause. Corn is a real skin bummer for many people; try to eliminate it for a month & see what happens. (let me know if that works by holding off on best answer -- if you don't mind)
