If he's not dead we need to capture him alive and keep him alive, and try him as a criminal. Otherwise we'll make him a martyr and his followers will be more inclined to act against us violently. If we treat him according to law and his followers attack us violently, they'll lose credibilty and followers, and they will weaken and die out.
