I was wondering what the correct christian way to pray was. I know that God loves me, but sometimes I feel afraid to pray directly to God and that I'm not worthly to pray to him. With Jesus, I feel like I can just be me and that he is on my side and very forgiving.

I know that Jesus said that "my father and I are one and the same" but I don't know if I can't conclude that means it really doesn't matter??

When I pray to "Heavenly Father" I always feel like my prayers are more respectful with more reverence and more formal

With Jesus, I feel like I'm having a comfortable conversation with someone who loves me

Please help guide me through this.

Hello Robin...contrary to some of the answers you already received, the truth of the matter is that Jesus gave us a model to follow. First, you never hear Jesus praying to himself which rules out some of the answers where people believe Jesus is God or equal to the Father. Jesus clearly addresses his Father like any one of us should, with respect and humility. When the deciples wanted to know how to pray, Jesus gave them the model found in Matthew Chapter 6. This prayer demonstrates things that it is proper to pray about and gives us a guide as to what things are most important. Notice that first is the sanctification of God's name.

Even though we sometimes feel unworthy of addressing our prayers to God (Jehovah is his name), he is generous in forgiving us and he WANTS us to pray to him. Phillippeans 4:6 points out "let your petitions be made known TO GOD." So the hearing of prayer is the one thing he didn't delegate to Jesus, although when we close our prayers we need to pray in Jesus' name. This shows that we acknowledge Jesus' sacrificial death as the only way that mankind can be reconciled to God. In short, Jesus is our mediator. Remember one thing, God wants us to be sincere and honest. Let him know your concerns and pray for understanding and wisdom. Don't expect miracles to be written in your cereal but expect sound answers by searching them out in His word, The Bible. Apply the things Jesus pointed out in the model prayer and you will be on your way to developing a nice relationship with your Creator.

For Christians there is a Trinity, One God in 3 'Persons', the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They are One and yet distinct. Sometimes I pray to the Father, who is the Source of all good, and sometimes to Jesus, who was born a man and who died and rose so that heaven is open to us, and sometimes to the Holy Spirit.. don't forget Him, who is our Comforter and Advocate until Jesus comes back.

You put it all very nicely. You can also call our Heavenly Father, 'Abba', or Papi, or Daddy if it makes you more comfortable. I don't know what kind of relationship you and your earthly father have, which sometimes affects our thinking about God. And remember,, Jesus is the image of the Father, and just like Him, and He does love you, the same as the Father does, and the Holy Spirit does. You are a beloved child of God.

Pray to G-d, and G-d only. G-d forbids the worship of anyone but Him. Note what happens when you pray to Jesus, or in his name.

Prayers, In Jesus' name, Amen, then to G-d.
Prayers - straight to G-d.

You, the prayer, are further separated from G-d when you pray in the name of a human being. If you're wondering if Jesus is G-d or not, Numbers 23:19 says that "G-d is not a man, that he should lie, nor the son of man, that he should repent". If G-d wasn't a man back then, then Jesus could never be part of an (imaginary) eternal trinity. Belief in the Christian trinity could be considered tantamount to polytheism, or at best, corrupt monotheism.

God can not take a seat at his very own appropriate facet. He does not pray to himself. He does not say he's doing the want of the only that despatched him. He might understand the day and hour that God became into going to start up Armageddon. He does not say he has forsaken himself. He does not say "it somewhat is my son, the only I actual have authorized. while he died, who became into it that resurrected him. The Bible says that God exalted Jesus yet why might he exalt himself? Jesus mentioned God became into better than he. Jesus on no account asked for all people to worship him. If God prays how can he be God? If Jesus is God why did he ought to get baptized? If Jesus is God , in who's call became into he baptized in? How did Jesus receive the Holy Spirit if he's likewise God & the Holy Spirit ? If Jesus is God who became into it that he prayed too to shop him from dying? Himself? Hebrews 5:7 Did absolutely everyone that observed Jesus die? (Exodus 33:20) . . .“you at the instant are not waiting to work out my face, through fact no guy may even see me and yet stay.” And God isn't a God of misunderstanding? through fact Jesus isn't God. isn't it astonishing how actual the Bible refutes some teachings while they have no Biblical foundation? Why did Jesus recieve a 'extra advantageous' posistion from the daddy if he became into God? (Phil. 2:9) If the Trinity skill 'co-equivalent' and 'co-everlasting' this might recommend that God, Christ and the Holy Spirit have been ALL co-equivalent....up until this scripture. Now, in accordance to this scripture Jesus has a 'extra advantageous' place........extra extra advantageous to the only he had in the previous it became into 'given' to him. So if the Bible AND the Trinity are the two real, this might recommend that Jesus is now greater in posistion in the Trinity than the daddy and Holy Spirit - through fact that in the previous this scripture they have been ALL 'co-equivalent'. How ought to this be a probability? curiously the two the Bible is incorrect or the Trinity doctrine is incorrect....i ask your self which one?

I believe that we should pattern our prayers after Jesus' example in Matthew. In the passage that has come to be known as the Lord's Prayer, Jesus prays to our Father in Heaven. Hope this helps ..God Bless..
