Its a good workout but it's always the same so it get's very boring real quick. There are 'stations' and you go to each station for 60 seconds or 2 minutes (I can't remember) You rotate around the floor twice. The price that you pay is dependant upon how much of a contract you want to sign for, I was suckered into a 3 year contract which put me at 29.99 a month, I stopped going after 6 months, but I still had to pay for the remainder. I think it would be more fun if you had some friends sign up with you, then you can push each other. Good luck to you

I liked curves for one reason--the friendliness of the ladies who worked there. The rest was, well.. I'll put it this way. It was for people who weren't all that serious about working out, but want to work out and socialize at the same time. The aerobics and weight machines just weren't intense enough for me. I barely would work up a sweat and that was in the first week I went. It was hard motivate myself there because everyone else was kind of just chatting it up and having a nice time rather than an intense, serious, grueling, physically exauhstive workout (the kind I wished it had been). It's not that it couldn't have been intense..I revved it up a bit and the workout kicked butt a few times---but I felt like I was discouraging the other people who were there when I did. Also.. the machines are in a circle, so you're staring at the people accross from you the whole time. It's a bit awkward.
To give you an idea of how much it will help--I lost a grand total of 2 pounds in 2 months of going three times a week.
It was 35 dollars a month. I had to sign a year-long contract. I paid 50 dollars to cancel that contract before the year was up. There is a $140.00 startup fee, but sometimes they have deals on that.

I did curves for a while and it is a circle circut workout where you workout to the music they provide. For 30 seconds you either work out on the machines or walk or jog in place. The idea is to keep your heart rate up for 30 min while doing strength training to lose weight and gain muscle. There are pros and cons to curves. The pros are it is a organized workout so it is not like you go to the gym and have no clue what to do there. The support is really great from the staff and the other women that workout there. The one I went to had contests all the time to keep you motivated. For me, I got a little sick of the same thing all the time because that is the only thing you can do. There are not any other types of cardio machines. I enjoyed going to curves but I eventually swiched to a regular gym in my town where I had more of a variety of equipment. It all depends on your workout style.

I think Curves is a very nice place to go and exercise, if it is important to you to be with only women. It is about $40 dollars a month, plus a registration fee. You can go to a larger gym for about half that. I think the biggest drawback is that the women who run Curves have very little training in the aspects of human physiology, body mechanics, etc. They are not personal trainers who have the ability to guide you when you are hitting a plateau or are having trouble with a machine due to back injury, shoulder injury, etc. They seem to have a rote approach to how to handle difficulties on a general basis as opposed to a personal basis. Some people love Curves, others don't. Like any gym, it is a personal preference.

I joined awhile back...I have not been going as I should but it is a very woman friendly place and they go through all the machines and how to use them correctly. My membership was 29 dollars a month taken out of my bank account for a year and usually they have a 150 sign up fee but I joined when they were having the food drive. You bring in a bag of non perishable food and they waive the fee. It is a fun atmosphere and a heck of a work out...they say it is a 30 min work out that is as intense as an hour and a half work out. They also do a series of nutrition workshops a couple of times a year.

It has been over 3 years since I have been there, but it is a great place. I lost weight, they track it, keep a diary and award you for doing well. It is a work out that does not let you get a high heartrate, making sure you are safely doing each thing correctly. It was $34 a month then, not sure now. They have added some work out classes as well, not sure if all of them have since they are owned by different people. I loved it, and lost some inches and weight as well.

This will tell you everything. You do general work outs. General stuff that wil get you toned but not loss the curves that god gave you. The cost will vary depending on the city for membership prices. I would go to your locale one and ask them.
