You will know by how you feel inside. Love is just a word but you can feel love. Love feels and means different things to everyone. It is only up to you to decide what is love and what is not love. I know a lot of people who have abused this word and it only ends up in hurt. So you will know when you feel love, until then do not abuse the word.

You want to protect someone; that is love. You want to be with another person; that is love. You want to comfort and reassure another; that is love. You cry for another; that is love. You are truly happy for another; that is love. You feel absolutely nerve-wrecked when another dies; that is love. You wish to befriend another; that is love.
There cannot be friendship without love; friendship is love, loving another person, but taken to a whole new level, a new dimension of the word that has been getting more scarce with ever passing day that the world steps into a new phase of society. And it is most unfortunate. Nowadays, you can't do half the things you would like to and normally would for a person, just because they may be offended by it or someone may sue you; blame those darned liberals, those unaggressive communists.

But no matter what happens, as the great Enya once said in her latest album, "Love is always love."

You are right about Love being a strong word. But the one thing that i have found is that after time it loses its strenght. Wish i could find that kind of love. I married twice for the wrong reason and if i get out of this i will love but not marry again. You can love without marriage.
I have one true love which has not worked out for us 2 times so far. He is my bestfreind and has been for 10 years. We are very close but we do not share that with anyone. When he touches my face and looks into my eyes i feel like i have become apart of him. That is Love.

My opinion is that you WONT know when you have fallen in love because it is so very confusing. But you don't have to rush to know the answer. You can just enjoy your time together and if you feel loving toward that person and you feel it's right to say that you love him, that's OK.

Your parents brought you up to be a loving person so it stands to reason that you will encounter many, many people in your life to whom you will declare your feelings of love.

I can tell you from experience that I've been married twice and had love and lust for both wives. But they did not treat me right and deserted me leaving me lonely and heartbroken. Now I have found someone that loves me as much as I love her and we both feel like we have fallen in love truly for the first time and it;s so beautiful, it can't be described with words.

The beauty of it is most of the time you can't. It's better not to look for the "signs" of wether you're in love or not. If you're more than happy when your partner is around, if you know he/she likes to start the day, if he/she does sweet little things that make you happy instead of big lavish things when he/she's screwed up. If you both are so comfortable with each other that...errm "bodily functions" don't embarass you. If you understand sometimes you have to just agree for the sake of your partner's sanity...then I say you are truly in love!

Mostly I think about that person a lot and it's usally someone I admire because they are really kind, smart or playful etc. It's someone who treats you well and you really care about inside your heart. I love my doctor, she's married but she is my best friend and has helped me through some bad times. I admire her because she's smart, funny and playful.

Yes it is a strong word...some use it to overwhelm their partner, but those who speak from the heart knows they are overwhelmed by their partner and feel the love within themselves.

You find yourself constantly thinking about him/her. You think spending the rest of your life with them would be the best thing in the world. And if a day goes by where you COULD have been with that person, but didn't. YOu hate yourself for it.
