Read up on the car you're interested in. "Lemon Aid" by Phil Edmonston is a good source to start with. He's written books on both new cars as well as used cars. He tells you what good and bad points the car you're interested in might have. And what the car is worth before you talk to a dealer. When you go to look at a car, take someone who knows cars with you. You can usually tell if a car has been in an accident by the different shades of paint and by the crooked seams in doors and hood and trunk lid. Also check for fluid leaks. ( oil, coolant and transmission fluid.) Good luck. "S"

look up the value in Kellys Blue Book
also, do not go shopping in the rain. you will not want to examine the car properly if it's raining. also, some cars actually run smoother and sound better in the rain.
Check around the door jams to see if the car has been repainted (perhaps after an accident). also look at the trunk. aligned properly? does it close evenly? all are indications of accidents.
Get a Carfax. It costs a few bucks but well worth it.

Take someone with you. Have the car you want picked out and know the price of the car. Look it up on www.kbb.com and print off the trade-in price for this car. What you give them above this price is sales profit. Call the bank and find out loan value for this car, also. Lastly, don't buy the car if you do not aboslutely love it.

Don't let the sales person push you in one direction...take some time to look at all the options and before purchasing make sure you get a carfax...it'll let you know things about the car previously..Good luck!!!

one good thing to do would be to take someone with you who knows a little about cars,,and have the look it over really good ,before you even think about buying it,,a salesman, can tell if your new at the buying process, and may not give you a good deal ,if he thinks you don't know anything about vehicles,it always pays to have someone look one over real good anyway before you buy it,,its better to be safe than sorry these days,,,good luck ,i hope this help,s.
