Not married, no kids, but i do have a girlfriend that i plan to marry with a daughter. Family thinks it's a bad idea. I guess I just need some encouragement.

Hey, my DH Joined when he was 26....made it thru BCT and AIT not to mention 2 Deployments. He is looking at another one here soon....oh, he Re-Enlisted while Downrange and got that Bonus Money TAX FREE.
I say if you are serious about providing for your soon-to-be family and can't do it any other way...go for it! Beleive it or not, the NCO's like to have older guys in their Units....they are more settled and aren't always out partying....and if they do, they still show up ON TIME for Formation...

I wish I could join the National Gaurd, but I'm too old and fat. I'm joining the Peace Corps instead. Somebody's got to defend western civilization or we're all going to have to "convert to Islam or die."

If you think you should then do it, follow what you think is right. It is not like you have to do it forever, but it is a great experience. You can can do it if you put your mind to it.
