hanging on the walls, but can you give me some interesting ideas for hanging them? I have all different sizes and all different frame styles.

I used to manage a picture frame store. One of my most creative "regulars" did some really fun things in her home. You reminded me of one. She had one particularly long and stark hallway in her home. She took all of the family pictures in whatever frame and completely covered the walls top to bottom. So its like one huge collage and it looks nice. She enjoys stopping and looking at the different pictures every day.

Doesn't answer your question, but another thing she did was to frame a lot of her kids school artwork. She has one room dedicated to displays of their art and she framed them as though they were "real" art worthy of a museum (and they are, of course). What a nice way to tell your kids they are special!

Back to you, tho. Another easy and fun thing we did often was to mat multiple pictures in one very large frame. We did multiple cutouts in various shapes to add interest and we included large and small pictures. It can be a nice, if pricey way to preserve your memories. Often, we would do multiple themed framings to match or compliment each other.

The problem with the typical decopage or thumbtack collage is that the pictures get damaged. Framing and matting them preserves them for the future family to enjoy.

Whatever you do, make it a fun expression of your love for family.

I LOVE the canvas look but didn't want to pay to have about 50 photos done so I found a way to do it myself!! Now I have a "gallery" of my favorite photos of family, scenes, buildings, some in black and white. Here's what I did:

Bought some yards of muslin, washed it and ironed it. Cut out 10" x 12" rectangles for 8" x 10" size. Scanned the photo on my computer and bought t-shirt transfer paper. Printed the photo onto the transfer paper and ironed it onto the muslim. Bought an 8" x 10" canvas stretcher frame from Joann's and had my husband buy wood and a staple gun and he made 49 more. Then we stretched each photo over the frames stapled the fabric to the inside of the back. I finished the edges with a piece of black growgrain ribbon and decorative brass brads. They look awesome and if I get tired of them, I just move them around or make some now ones!!

I like taking them and making a big collage out of them. Or you can try putting the big frames all around the outside, and fill in the middle with your smaller frames. Or maybe even be cool to arrange them like a crossword puzzle, or a sunburst... or some other interesting shape. Just a few thoughts off the top of my head... I hope this helps, or gives you some other ideas. Have a good night.

You could hang a "wall gallery" in which several frames hang from a rod on the wall. I love the way this looks: classic and simple and easy to look at. The best part is that you can arrange it however you want to. Make it big, small, color, black and white, and put multiple "galleries" around the house. Yay!

pick something that represents each person of your family and dedicate a frame to them, even though the whole family may be in the picture. example, if you have a brother that loves baseball frame one photo with a baseball frame.

Make a frame in a form of tree then paste your family photo there.
