it's just a nightmare. people dream about things that they're afraid of all the time. however, not all of us remember our dreams. don't worry about it. it's just a dream.

His dream is probably the way his mind is focusing on his fears of her becoming more independent. She's a toddler and they really start exploring and climbing after they are a year old. I am guessing she is able to climb the stairs without help, but he might be really nervous about her doing it. His fears are materializing in his dream, even if he doesn't know he's nervous about it. I would put up a gate to keep her off the stairs without supervision but remember that she has to be allowed some freedom, it's part of growing up.

Dreaming of falling down could mean losing control. Your boy friend is stressed and have this anxiety about rising the 2 year old daughter.

Having her projected as falling down from stairs could mean he sometimes is helpless in taking care of her. That is why he vent ths out in dreams. It may or may not have happened in reality, but the focus is why he dreamed about that. In this case, he may be stressed and has a little fear about responsiblities

I think he is worried about her not only physically but emotionally as well. I am wondering why the two of you are not married? It sound like your boyfriend wants to be in a married family raising his daughter. Maybe he is feeling insecure because right now your relationship has no real commitment and he feels that at any time he could lose his daughter. Just a thought.

Have HIM install baby gates that lock at the top and bottom of the stairs. That way when he goes to sleep he knows shes secure and will not be able to fall down them. They now make over sized gates that go to about 4 feet high.

He is having anxiety over being a parent. I use to have similar dreams. It's sort of the same thing as when you dream all your teeth fall out and you're chewing on them, or if you dream of tornadoes, fire, bad guys chasing you, roller coasters, etc. It's anxiety and feelings that there is something going on in your life that you can't control.

Wow, I was thinking it meant you need to get married, too. Statistics suggest life is far better for children of married parents.

The important thing is how he feels during the dream and what he tells himself during the dream. Did he actually see her fall downstairs once? That would play over and over.

A person’s life is full of dreams. It most likely means he is protective of your daughter. He is afraid of losing or hurting her. Its normal for a parent to have those kinds of dreams. I used to have a dream about my youngest being kidnapped and finding his body in the lake. (To many horror movies, I know) It will go away, give it time. I still have dreams about my boys every now and again. :):)

I dont think you have anything to be worried about. Your boyfriend may have a fear that is in his subconscious (in the back of his mind) and he doesnt express it, so its expression is done in his dreams. This fear can be anything (living up to the expectation of being a father, being able to provide for the family, etc...) but more then likely involves your daughter.
