Because he never died on the cross!

That's the best explanation I have. Jesus was not resurrected because he never died. That's why people saw him a few days afterwards.

The purpose was so that the civil authorities would know Jesus was dead.

FACT: the apostles are historical people who died testifying about Jesus resurrection and divinity.

FACT: The apostle Paul was a persecutor of Christ's followers till he himself became convinced it was all true.

FACT: Christianity certainly did spread at a phenominal rate after the death of the apostles and the Christians being fed to lions by Rome.

FACT: The Romans and Jewish authorities of that time could not account for Christ's missing body even though they took every precaution to guard it.

FACT: These events of Christ's life, death, and resurrection were all fortold in the Old Testament prophesies (300+) that were fulfilled which is a statistical impossibility for a human being. There is a saying: The New Testament is concealed in the Old and the Old Testament is revealed in the New. Anyone who really wants to know the truth can discover this truth.

The Bible is not 100% accurate but, there are some things to take into consideration before declaring the Bible an invalid source to believe in. You ask a lot of good questions.

There are some problems with the Bible and errors. Please remember, the Old Testament was passed down by oral tradition before the technology of writing was available. Compared to the Quran which existed long after the technology for writing was invented. So, yes there are errors.

Secondly, there are different ways to interpret based upon the "literary forms" of writers. Depending whether it is in a historical context, prophetic, poetry, or some other type of literary form. I believe Jesus Christ IS THE WORD of God. The Bible is written by people inspired by God.

If you took a Bible course and discovered what SCRIPTURAL TYPOLOGY is you would be amazed. If you knew what SALVATION HISTORY was in the Bible you would understand. If you recognized DIVINE AUTHORITY you would know that there has to be someone in authority to reveal the "secret" truths God has given. If you research all those phrases you will begin a journey of discovery that will last a life time.

We have a saying in Catholicism: the New Testament is hidden in the Old and the Old is revealed in the New. There are many mysteries contained in the Bible that I have been amazed at discovering for the past 20 years and there is a whole lot more. St. Jerome said: Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. The whole Bible is about our SALVATION: Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ fulfilled over 300 prophesies in the Old Testament about the Messiah you can discover 50 of them in cd's IT IS WRITTEN.

WHEN YOU HAVE BEGUN TO DISCOVER THESE THINGS YOU WILL KNOW IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY MAN. Jesus (a historical figure along with others in the Bible that are not fictitional characters) by fulfilling just 50 prophesies makes the odds of doing that 10X135 power! An astronomical figure that could not have been achieved by human means.

The thing that might shock you and others is that SATAN used scripture to tempt Jesus. So, too Satan will use scripture to trip us up from following the true faith. This is why there has to be DIVINE AUTHORITY that passes from the Old Testament to APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION in the New Testament. This is why someone cannot Authoritatively pick up a Bible and correctly interpret it nor can there be millions of interpretors to HOLY SCRIPTURE. There can only be one!

You not only look like a fool. I will PROVE you a fool.

The old and new testament combined is 7 years, by the 6 day theory. 1 day is 1 thousand years. There is 4 days (4 thousand years) in the old testament. There is 3 days (3 thousand years) in the new testament. a total of 7 thousand years. (7 days). Christ had to resurrect the 3rd day (3 thousand years) as a example of the entire new testament of time. To make the entire Gospel from the beginning true.

Now. Read TRUTH and weep.

.The Jews taught the six-day theory that the world would go on for 6,000 years and Christ would return on the 7th day, or the final 1,000 years of Revelation 20:4, and they based it on Psalm 90:4, and the Christians on 2 Peter 3:8 where it says that a day is like 1,000 years and 1,000 years is like a day. Since God created the world in 6 days, Genesis 1:31, 6,000 years and then rested on the 7th day, 1,000 years, so will it be.
This is interesting and the king is coming in John 1:49, the wedding is on the third day, chapter 2, verse 1, and Christ becomes our groom and that, of course, is Revelation 19:7. Then the Jews, listen to what they have to say. After two days, 2,000 years, God will revive us as a nation. That happened in 1948, almost after 2,000 years. Then they add, and after the third day, he shall raise us up. That's when Christ returns to set up his kingdom on earth. So the three-day theory is the New Testament that's total 7 day Theory is Old and New combined.

Matters concerning religion are not imaginary stories created by men. They are great lessons for people to meditate through centuries with authotitative interpretations by divine Teachers. The resurrection of Christ is not material but spiritual:

"Observe that it is said, "The Son of man is in heaven," while at that time Christ was on earth. Notice also that it is said that Christ came from heaven, though He came from the womb of Mary, and His body was born of Mary. It is clear, then, that when it is said that the Son of man is come from heaven, this has not an outward but an inward signification; it is a spiritual, not a material, fact. The meaning is that though, apparently, Christ was born from the womb of Mary, in reality He came from heaven, from the center of the Sun of Reality, from the Divine World, and the Spiritual Kingdom. And as it has become evident that Christ came from the spiritual heaven of the Divine Kingdom, therefore, His disappearance under the earth for three days has an inner signification and is not an outward fact. In the same way, His resurrection from the interior of the earth is also symbolical; it is a spiritual and divine fact, and not material; and likewise His ascension to heaven is a spiritual and not material ascension."

See all the answers here? Pointless. Like the question was. What is it to me that Jesus was resurrected in 3 or 4 or 5 days or instantly? What religious meaning should it have?

One would need the intelligence of our Higher Power to know why it was on the third day that He was resurrected. But to declare that this event did not take place based on a hypothetical claim that instant resurrection was the only way to go..........wow!

The resurrection has also to be understood in a much deeper sense..not just as a Houdini trick. Jesus came back to show us that we ALL will live beyond the grave..to remove the fear of death, and to prove there was something worth living for later.

You seem to believe in a Higher Power but not in Jesus's resurrection. May I, please, ask you to focus on the lifestyle messages that Jesus gave us. In particular, "love thy neighbour as thy self". ThAT is the message for us today, I suggest.

Well, Jesus has predicted that he will resurrect by third day (mind you, Jewish calculation, not ours), and he did.

What else to proof that He is God? Beside declare the day of his own resurrection. If he resurrect on that very day of his death, will not anyone say he is just in coma and woke up?

After 3 days, body will rot, and if he did resurrect, in which he did, his body will have rot. But for Jesus body was not, for he has the new body (plus the wound in his hands).

Well can you imagine what would of been said if God had of raised him from the dead immediately? They would say that he wasn't really dead. Look at what people say now, and some don't even believe. Part of it was to fulfill the prophecy. May God wanted people to know without a doubt that Jesus was his son.

Jesus died on Friday, rested on the Sabbath(Saturday) and resurrected on Sunday.

Did Jesus keep the Sabbath?

Luke 4:16  And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

When and what is the Sabbath?

Exodus 20:8  Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9  Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10  But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11  For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

John 10:17  Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

HE will take HIS life again. To answer your question, HE will take HIS life back in HIS own time.

To completely answer your question I cannot.

I believe at that time it took three days to be declared legally dead.

It was law or custom of the time. If he jumped right up and did a tap dance -- people would not believe that he had actually died. He had to be confirmed dead.

Partly he was busy battling SATAN for the keys to HELL during that period of time and needed time to recuperate from the fight.
Did you deliberly skip over that part?
THE CREATOR OF THINGS Made theSOULS of ALLL THAT WAS and WILL BE from its own BODY.Before starting on the creation of the physical universe and that took six days literal one.
We shall all be returned to the body of our CREATOR when the day of Judgement is over .
