Christian is a "generic" term for all who believe in Jesus Christ. So Catholics, Baptists, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists are all Christians.
They differ on some other beliefs but share the common belief in salvation through Jesus, the Son of God. Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists, Baptists and others came from the Reformation which rejected some Catholic beliefs. Up until then, there was only the Catholic and the Orthodox Churches.

Baptists aren't necessarily followers of Jesus.
The Baptist faith is older than Christianity by a few years.
The Baptist faith has little to do with Jesus, they were doing this before Jesus came along.
Baptists are no necessarily Protestants nore Christians, although they can be.
Catholics, Lutherans and Protestants are Christins as a general rule.
Catholic was the first basic Christian religion based on the teachings and foundations of Peter, Paul and John, but organizaed and developed by Constantine.
Greeks and russians broke away over concepts like Priest can't marry and who is a Saint and who Isn't and what chapters of the Bible can be read and which can't.
England broke away over divorce
Luther and Lutherans broke away over payment of money to get out of sin. Luther felt you needed to live sin free.
So the Luthermans became part of the Protestant or Reformist movement in the 1400-1500 era.
All know who Jesus is.
Most, if not all, beleive in Jesus
But Baptists, once again, put the process of Baptism at the top of the list as even Jesus came to John the Baptist for a Baptism.

Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.
Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):
By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.
There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.
A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.
With love in Christ.

Actually, they all interpret parts of the bible differently. Some of the differences of interpretation are slight, some not so slight. As a result of those different interpretations, many christian religions tend to have different ways of worship, their church services can be very different, and their teachings take on a different tone.
If you really want to understand the differences, you should do a little research (aside from asking other people, check out church websites and things, and maybe even attend services at different churches). This will give you a good idea of what differences there are between christian religions and what they all have in common.

All but the catholics are protestants. They all believe in the Lord Jesus. Look up the word protestant in wikipedia to understand further.
They all may have different forms of worship as well.
Slight doctrinal beliefs, ex. Catholics pray to the Virgin Mary, Saints for help. Protestants generally do not.

The devil is in the details :)
In their distant past they all had practices involving their faith that differed, even though they all use the same bible and pray to the same god. Those differing practices were much more important to people years ao than nowadays. An example is the Catholic's creation of Sainthood for worthy people. Protestants do not believe in creating saints.

Christian - follows Jesus Christ and his teachings.
I am a Christian who worships in the Baptist Church. I do not consider myself a Baptist.
If not following Jesus - then just religion or tradition - not following the Truth.

Yes, they all believe in Jesus. However there is a distinct difference between them namely Catholics and Protestants. Catholics adhere not only to scripture, but also tradition. Protestants believe in Sola Scriptura (scripture alone) as a means of faith and practice of the Christian. (My apologies in my explaination of the Catholic faith--as a protestant I am not very familiar with all of your beliefs.) Hope this helps..God Bless..

Agenda and interpretation are the denominational differences between related religions. The formation of Protestantism and the Quaker church are very well documented examples of the history of religion.

I believe that they are all part of the same kingdom, just different nationalities. God made us all with different needs, and there are different denominations that suit each of us.
be blessed in Jesus Christ.
