I have had the nVidia FX 5200 and I found that it would play games that were made when the card was made pretty well, and it was only a 128 mb.

It should play the games you mention, but these games will not play very well on high settings. For one thing, your dell is older and so it does not have a more modern processor.

I don't think you should spend any money on another video card because of the processor limitations. But you could look at newegg.com for pci vid cards and you can maybe get a newer nVidia card...won't be easy, though, since gpu's are even leaving agp slots behind, let alone pci.

But basically, a new computer is what you need, so I would save up and get one, or build one, that has a pci-e type gpu...

no the fx 5200 is a entry level pci card and is lame. arguably the fastest pci card out would be the nividia geforce 6200 256 mb it is much better then the fx 5200

Nvidia is very good plus, with that amount of ram, you should not have a problem. This does, however, say something negative about Dell.

anything that is capable of playing BF2 or hl2 should be fine. most cards made today or pci-express but if you call best buy or a circuit city they might have better cards

my best advice is go to newegg and search for the cards and read the reviews if it sucks ,somebody will be ranting on about it
