for a parakeets egg to hatch??

Also, has anyone gone throught a parakeet laying an egg. if so what did you do!!

The eggs hatch in eighteen days from the time the hen starts sitting. She may not sit until several, or all the eggs are produced. Five eggs is average. The hen incubates the eggs and handles most of the feeding chores.

If she has no acess to a male then the egg wont be fertile and wont hatch. Female birds will lay eggs even if they havnt mated. Make sure she has plenty of calcium rich foods availble to her during this time or she could get eggbound and it could cause serious or fatal problems. Making sure she has a good supply of calcium rich foods at all time ensures it doesnt sneek up on ya.

If you don't have a male throw away the egg. If you were trying to breed her put her in a calm room & let nature take it's course.

it usealy take about 18 days to hatch and thats all in the norm.
it's a wonderful thing to see when it happens.
