And then it talks about how god says o you shall love me more then anyone else! something like that i dont know! and i dont really care i just want to know why people read about a book that could just simply be lies. I mean the bible is as realistic as harry potter! I consider the bible to be a book of myths (which is what it is) If you guys believe all those stories. It has been my experience that a lot of people simply believe things because they are told they are true. When I was little and my parents started explaining God and the Bible, I didn't just take everything they said at face value. I wanted to know why? I wanted to know how all these people knew that? I wanted to know.... And no one could explain that to me. I agree with you that the Bible might as well be just another book, although SO many will disagree. That's because those are the ones who don't stop to ask, how do you know that? I don't take things that are written as truths. If I did, I would KNOW that the earth is flat and KNOW that the clown from IT is real. You know?

well you said it in your own question, all those myths. But the bible is not a myth it was written by 40 people over a 1600 year period yet it all fits together and God did speak to some of these writers and If someone provides everything for your existence and provides you life and provides you a chance at eternal life, then yes He gets all the praise and glory and if you would take the time to read and study the bible you would see it is the better plan. H.Potter is a piece of fiction It is not lies and it is a matter of faith and trust you seem to be all upset and angry and that is because you want to know yet you keep yourself from learning If you consider the bible myth then that is your choice only it is not a wise one read the bible keep an open mind and start with John 3:16 I will pray for you

FACT: IT CAME INTO EXISTENCE CENTURIES AFTER THE BIBLE AND TORA. People who believe in it seem to think a counterfeit comes before the original. Islamic believers cannot validate the claim that the Bible is the counterfeit because the Bible's existence preceded the Qur'aan.

FACT: THE QUR'AAN TESTIFIES ABOUT ONE TRUE GOD (ALLAH) AND HIS PROPHETS. These truths were in the Bible and Torah long before the Qur'aan. This fact reveals that the Qur'aan is not the first writtings about God and his prophets and suggests that the Qur'aan is not authentic but a forgery.

FACT: IT WAS WRITTEN BY THE ASSOCIATES OF MUHAMMAD (pbuh). Muhammad could not read nor write. Therefore, Muhammad could not verify the validity of the holy book.

FACT: THE QUR'AAN's EXISTENCE WAS AFTER THE TECHNOLOGY OF WRITTING WAS INVENTED. Believer's of the Qur'aan and Islam think the errors in the Bible prove it is not the Word of Allah. Nothing is further from the truth. The technology of writing didn't exist in the time when stories of salvation history were unfolding. So, naturally there are errors since the oral tradition existed before the invention of writing.

The Bible is not 100% accurate but, there are some things to take into consideration before declaring the Bible an invalid source to believe in. You ask a lot of good questions.

There are some problems with the Bible and errors. Please remember, the Old Testament was passed down by oral tradition before the technology of writing was available. Compared to the Quran which existed long after the technology for writing was invented. So, yes there are errors.

Secondly, there are different ways to interpret based upon the "literary forms" of writers. Depending whether it is in a historical context, prophetic, poetry, or some other type of literary form. I believe Jesus Christ IS THE WORD of God. The Bible is written by people inspired by God.

If you took a Bible course and discovered what SCRIPTURAL TYPOLOGY is you would be amazed. If you knew what SALVATION HISTORY was in the Bible you would understand. If you recognized DIVINE AUTHORITY you would know that there has to be someone in authority to reveal the "secret" truths God has given. If you research all those phrases you will begin a journey of discovery that will last a life time.

We have a saying in Catholicism: the New Testament is hidden in the Old and the Old is revealed in the New. There are many mysteries contained in the Bible that I have been amazed at discovering for the past 20 years and there is a whole lot more. St. Jerome said: Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. The whole Bible is about our SALVATION: Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ fulfilled over 300 prophesies in the Old Testament about the Messiah you can discover 50 of them in cd's IT IS WRITTEN.

WHEN YOU HAVE BEGUN TO DISCOVER THESE THINGS YOU WILL KNOW IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY MAN. Jesus (a historical figure along with others in the Bible that are not fictitional characters) by fulfilling just 50 prophesies makes the odds of doing that 10X135 power! An astronomical figure that could not have been achieved by human means.

The thing that might shock you and others is that SATAN used scripture to tempt Jesus. So, too Satan will use scripture to trip us up from following the true faith. This is why there has to be DIVINE AUTHORITY that passes from the Old Testament to APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION in the New Testament. This is why someone cannot Authoritatively pick up a Bible and correctly interpret it nor can there be millions of interpretors to HOLY SCRIPTURE. There can only be one!

"Then how come you don't believe all those myths the Greeks had?" -- I do. Is this bad? Oh well.
The bible was made BY man, through the HOLY SPIRIT (THE HELP OF GOD).
Of course if your being forced - that's wrong.
As a human being you will change who you are; GOD will never change, GOD cares for you, and is patiently waiting for you. Also having children will open your eyes to another of GODs gifts.
If I may suggest, Continue living your life as well as you can, be involved in our community and family. By doing this - you will not need to read the bible, as you will be LIVING the word of GOD, by your actions, which are more important than words.

The bible is a historical account backed by many witnesses. I suggest you do some research on it, so that even if you don't believe in it you can have some evidence to support what you do believe. The reason they say that it is made by God is because it is believed God has preserved it for such a long time. It's about God. He didn't personally write it. People believe it, why? Why do people believe it? Because they are selfish and want to live forever? These are some very old questions. Isn't life complicated.

You can read the Bible with "spiritual" eyes if you have the Holy Spirit of God residing within you and the only way to have this is to "confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead - and you will be saved." You may ask - "Saved from what?" - which is a good answer. Saved from sin and self. Trusting in Jesus alone - believing who He says He is and having faith to believe it is true. Then the Bible will come alive to you as your perspective will have changed - you will want to live for Jesus and have real purpose for your life. Blessings.

All of the things in the Bible seem far away to you because it was so long ago that it all began. At one time God was very close to all of us because we were close to him. Moses actually saw God's backside. No one else had the privilege but people believed and kept passing down their beliefs. There are many things in the Bible that can be proven historically. All of the books of the Bible were written by many people but the holy spirit of God directed them as to what to write.
Yes, it sounds far fetched but that is where faith comes in.

Do you realize that everyone in the bible were real people? There are no myths. What makes you believe that it is a book of lies? Did someone tell you that, or did you just decide to believe it? Moses was a real person. So was David. What proof do you have that it isn't real? Do you have an anti-bible? Christians base our belief and faith on the bible. What do you base your unbelief on?
