"Shin-Dao'...this is a rare and little known aspect of Martial Arts that teaches among the standard Karate moves the ability to render an opponent unconscious by a sharp, lightening fast almost imperceivable blow to the Sternum. The Master using he slightest of blows "fingertips" only can drop a man inless than 3 seconds. I have seen this same practice work repeatedly regardless of the size of the opponent, they crumple like a Rag Doll!

Tang Soo Do. My son takes it. Just had an "extreme self-defense" class last Saturday. They seem to focus on kicking. If an attacker is in close enough for you to punch you are TOO close and more vulnerable. You have more power and better range with kicks. Also, they showed how a smarter technique is to push yourself away from an attacker, rather than trying to push the attacker away from you.

I am a black belt in taekwondo. So taekwondo I would suppose. I wouldn't attack me on the street. I played by the rules in the ring in class but out on the street it is all fair game. I will hit anywhere possible and anywhere it really hurts. So for guys I go straight between the legs. For girls I hit the chest or the mouth.

Since my black belt is in Chi Do Kwon (Tae Kwon Do), I am partial to it. I did study Shotokan for 3 yrs, too.
