Cwrw (the Welsh for beer)! There is always a special brew for the National Eisteddfod. Otherwise, mead is the traditional drink.

Scottish invented Guiness, Ireland bought the rights many centuries ago, Scotland enjoyed Guiness for years...drives me mad that everyone thinks it's Irelands creation!. Sorry, that's not an answer to your question. Was in Wales last week....definitely beer, big signs about beer outside most pubs!. The real ale of wales is lovely and smooth too but can't think of the name. Mead is still very popular in Cornwall - l got very drunk on it a few years ago in a harbour side restaurant in Penzance, didn't have many small glasses - lethal stuff!

RE:
What is the national beverage of Wales?
Scotland has whiskey,
Ireland has guiness,
England has real ale,
So what do the Welsh call their national drink?

Mead is a fermented alcoholic beverage made of honey, water, and yeast. Meadhing is the practice of brewing honey. Mead is also known as "honey wine," although this is inaccurate. Mead is a separate and distinct family of alcoholic beverages, completely apart from beer, wine, liqueur, and distilled beverages.
A mead that also contains spices (like cloves, cinnamon or nutmeg) or herbs (such as oregano or even lavender or chamomile) is called metheglin. This word is derived from the Welsh word meddyglyn, meaning "medicinal liquor", as healing herbs were often stored as metheglin so they would be available over the winter (as well as making them much easier to swallow).
Mead is mentioned in many old north Anglo-Saxon stories, including in the epic poem Beowulf, and in early Welsh poetry such as Y Gododdin.

There isn't one really. Brains beers (Welsh brewers) are very popular. In the eighties there was a beer rather imaginitively called "Welsh", with the slogan, "Never forget your Welsh" (geddit?).
edit : PS No one I know has ever had mead. They don't sell it in any pubs.
