if you fill out the FAFSA form ( http://fafsa.ed.gov ) it asks you questions regarding your income and if you are under age 24, also your parents income. based on your answers, the department of education gives the school you apply to a code, which lets the school know how much you are eligible for in grant money. As for scholarships, go to your guidance counselor at the school, they usually have some scholarships to apply for (or even try at the school you are applying to). Normally you have to write some type of essay on a given topic and some require a letter of recommendation.

Good luck on your search.

Pell Grants are free grants from the government up to $3500 per year. It is based on your income. You can also get scholarships from your college- for sports, grades, science, almost anything. Google scholarships, and apply for the Federal Pell Grant(it takes a while) and get good grades. Grades really help in the scholarship world. Apply for every scholarship you can. What's the worst they can say? NO? And you can get student loans. Your college will tell you more.
