Read the book, "Parenting with Love and Logic". Teaching natural consequences for childrens behavior. Beating a child is the lazy way of discipline. For example, if a kid slams his bedroom door than I guess he needs to be taught HOW to shut a door properly. Opening and shutting the door about a 100 times should do it. Otherwise, taking the door off of the hinges for awhile should do the trick. See? Being creative but using discipline as a teaching method not as a punishment method. Who learns by being hit? Some kids actually enjoy pain so it doesn't work.

Put them up for adoption?....

just kidding.

since kids can't be spanked anymore, it's real important not to spoil them to begin with , you must be consistent and not a pushover, especially if trying to compensate for a divorce or some other situation you feel bad about,

I agree with the above statements using things and out time as leverage.

The fear of my dad taking off his belt and telling me to lay across the bed pants down worked for me. I would have rather been grounded for a year.

The above mentioned taking off door as a consequence for slamming was a good one.

start taking away one at a time the things that mean the most for 24 hrs and let them know why they are being punished and when they will get their stuff back. when my kids act up this proves my point b/c then they realize why and what they did espically when they are not allowed phone calls. it embarasses them for me to answer the and say" sorry but she is punished talk to her at school tomorrow or call back in 24 hrs"--lol-- kinda funny ,but they start to listen , the next step is to throw stuff away they really want. that they cannot have back or give it away t someone who other wise would never be able to afford it.

i exploit non-classic techniques with my little ones besides. i will could remember the making a music one next time my 2 are going at it. once I handcuffed them collectively for the afternoon because of the fact they have been being so mean to a minimum of one yet another. i've got additionally made them end each remark with "and that i such as you" for the entire day. Now, I additionally instruct midsection college and that i exploit some non-classic techniques with them besides. case in point, if my scholars are being rude to a minimum of one yet another, I even have them bow (and that i mean an entire fledged, rolling of the arm bow) to the different occasion for a whole day. so as that any time that pupil passes them (at school, the hallway, and so on) they could stop and bow. the different scholars are my video exhibit instruments and are to checklist back to me in the event that they do no longer bow. it is frequently plenty exciting attempting to locate a "greater powerful" thank you to come back on the scholars for trivial issues.

Taking away things. Car, Computer, Phone, Cell phone, TV, outside time. And when you ground them, be sure they are grounded the entire time. Don't let them off early.
