Yes, they are. They are also more expensive, but they last way longer. BE CAREFUL THOUGH, as not all electonics can take lithium batteries. You'll need to read the manual on your digital camera/remote/whatever to find out if it can take lithium.

NicCd r batteries are, in fact, obsolete ... NiMh are taking over Nic-Cad just because Cadmium is toxic (lethal poison).
Lithium Ion are very good but delivery a different voltage !! That so you can't find regular 1.5V AA or AAA format/size Lithium Ion. ...not yet.
BTW ...any NicCd or NiMh rechargeable batteries, AA or AAA size are not 1.5 V ...are only 1.2V. ;-)

Yes. LithiumIon batteries are better than NickelCadmium
They charge faster. They provide more charge for longer. They have little to no "memory effect". And, yes, they cost more.
