Be the alpha. That means you are in charge of him/her. You tell it how to live. You provide the right food, you provide the right kind/amount of exercise, you provide training. You take it to the vet regularly and whenever something strange crops up. You give it heartworm preventative, and you give it discipline when it behaves incorrectly. During all of that, you give it love. It will love you back unconditionally.

I think one of the most overlooked parts of being a good dog owner is making sure that the dog gets regular exercise, every day, two to three times a day. Exercise is absolutely vital to make sure the dog stays strong, well-toned, and doesn't get bored. I can't stress enough the value of regular exercise.
Regular visits to the vet for vaccination against parvo and distemper, and a general health-check
Good quality food, either fresh meat, or something processed that has a good name, like Pedigree or IAMS. Don't give-in to temptation to over feed a dog, and go easy on 'treats'
Make sure your dog has his/her toys and make sure that some of the toys are 'chewy' toys to strengthen and maintain their jaws, and keep their teeth clean.
Good discipline. Dogs are pack animals, and they need a leader. You must be the leader that the dog respects, otherwise your dog will become unruly and unpleasant. You are in charge, and make sure the dog knows that.
Love your dog like your brother or sister, include it in fun and games, treat him like a very best friend, keep him well-exercised and properly fed, and your dog will love you forever, and hopefully have a long, healthy and happy life.

bless ya.
regular worming, dental and health checks, keep up to date on their boosters, flea treatment and walks, take them everywhere you can with you, as this will strengthen the bond with you and the animals.
a good healthy diet to keeps those eyes bright, coat glossy and nose cold and wet.
not too amy treats!
i think that if you love your animal, the rest will come naturally.

to raise a healthy dog, the first thing you need to do is get a decent food...Iams, and pedagree r junk food....Try and find brands such as Timberwolf.....Candadae.....or Wellness....their more expensive but the food is more hearty so you dont need to feed them as much...one way to tell how heathy your dog is...is by the consistancy of their fecies...they should be solid

Dogs are like humans ... they need attention and love .. the more you give them the more happy they are and healthier.... they are like us .. I think we should give our pets what ever they need .. like we want our parents to give us what we need... if my pet wants to eat with me ,, my food .. i give him ... and feed him vitamins and take some time and feed him with my hands if he does not feel like eating .. he is 100% healthy ... just keep ur pet happy and give him ur time .... that is we all need ....
