the whole reason i joined dance class was to improve my self-confidence but all i think am i doing is crushing it . okay i always have this problem : evey time i have to do something where everyone has their eyes on me , i get all nervous and feel sick like i am going to throw up , then i mess up and everyone ends up laughing at me . its totally humiliating ! so what i think i need to do is to find a way to relax and stop worrying about people watching me and find a way to overcome my shyness . any ideas ??? (by the way don't suggest for me to drop out of dance because i want to continue . please no smart a#s answers , i am really worried !

I had the same problem when I was younger. I think the key is learning to relax. Maybe you could try deep breathing exercises or meditation. That helped me.

I kinda had a similar experience with salsa, swing, and ballroom in college, but I just didn't care what everyone else thought and stuck with it. If that sounds too tautological, I might recommend trying to find a slightly lower-key dance class with less pressure.

Be confident. As you progress you would be more graceful. Take time and practice. Others ridicules don't really matter.
