The book of shadows has list of spells, knowledge, wisdom etc., why is it called a book of shadows then? It seems it brings light to things, not darkness and shadows.

Because you CAST a shadow and you CAST spells. However, some Witches do call it a Book of Light and Shadows. Blessed be.
Also, there's the fact that this religion used to be, and still kind of is, underground. People used to be hanged and burned for practicing this religion. So the name "Book of Shadows" might have stemmed from the idea that they had to remain in the shadows. Blessed be.

Shadows = Mysteries. It is supposed to be new-found knowledge, things which appear to be mystery but have been discovered.

Never heard of this book. Where can i get a copy.? I wanna turn my students into frogs and toads for coming late to class and not doing their hoework and going on the net to get answers to questions i set for them.
