Cats are more independent. My cat is also very affectionate. She is a Blue Russian.

Neither is the correct answer - The real answer is which of these two animals suits your lifestyle? cats are more independent and dogs require much more care - You can go away for a weekend and set out extra food and water for you cat and go away - you can't do that with a dog - a dog needs more human attention, dogs don't usually use a litter box however some very small dogs are being taught to use a special dog litter box, cats almost always use a litter box

Some cats are very affectionate and some cats prefer to spend part of the day alone - Most dogs want your company 99% of the time.

I suggest that you speak with several cat and dog owners and find out their opinions and then there are households that have both dogs and cats and everyone gets along famously.

It really depends on the people and the individual personalities of the animals.

Good Luck

Neither. One isn't better than the other. This is like trying to categorize people based on the color of their skin; ridiculous. Cats and dogs both have their own unique pros and cons. I love 'em both. Have 2 cats now....trying to convince the hubby that we should get a dog.

This is entirely up to a persons preference. I like dogs. My sister loves cats. Different people like different things. That's why God made cats and dogs.

Linda, I have both. I have 2 cats & a dog. to my surprise they get along! My cats, I can leave in the house for a few days alone. While I'm gone to buy stock. The dog, I take with me. He has never bit anyone but, he can growl & look very vicious! When people ask, "does he bite?"
I always say, "when I tell him to." but, to tell you the truth, I don't know if he would or not!

Cats, for sure.

If comes down to whether or not I have to get up at 3:00 in the morning to walk my pet. Cats are cleaner, dogs require more maintenance.

I love them both, and currently have a cat, but I desperately want a dog. They're so cute and you get to walk them!

Definatly Cats!! I have 2 adorable little furballs!!! they're my babies!!

don't get my wrong though, I like dogs too! I have a 10 (almost 11) yr. old male neutered Beagle who I love dearly!!!

but if I had to choose then I would choose cats without a doubt!!

cats are low maintence, you don't have to walk them, they aren't messy, they don't smell, they're less likely to tear stuff up, independent, very clean, beautiful, and sweet creatures!!

dogs are just to needy for me and they luvvvvvv to run off and don't want to come back!!

cats NEVER do that!
