SAT scores higher in the 60's on a harder test, much smaller vocabularies everywhere, family feud gives more time to answer question and more much more evidence

Here in the US at least.. people are so hung up on making sure everyone feels good about themselves. So for many years the educational requirements appeared to get lower and lower in order to have more people "excel". Only the "solution" create a bigger problem. We now have children graduating high school and going on to college where they are taking remedial math and course to learn skills they shoud have learned in the 5th grade.

people now days rely to much on electronics to do the work for them, and don't have to think about things. I was at the store the other day, and the cashier typed in the wrong amount of money that I gave her, and so the total that came up was wrong, and she could not count back in her head the correct amount that she owed me.. It is sad...

People are just as smart as they ever were. The problem is that no one applies themselves to learning as they did in the past. It is easier to watch TV than to read a book because reading requires one to think whereas TV doesn't.
