There are usually clinics associated with hospitals that provide care on a sliding scale basis. You can try calling a couple of hospitals in or near Austin, and ask for 'public relations' or just tell the operator what your need is, to find mental health treatment that is affordable in your situation, and they should be able to refer you to someone who will care for you.

It is important to find the cause of your depression in order to know how to treat it. Trying to treat it on your own is not the best idea. Vitamin B-12 is something that could mask symptoms instead of treating the underlying condition. St John's Wort is known to be effective when used appropriately, but first you should be examined by a professional.

I am sure there is a mental health facility where you can go and get help on a fixed or lower income. We have one in the county where I live and it works on a sliding scale of how much you can afford for therapy. Look into it and good luck.

Go to Mental Health Center in your town. They don't always charge if you can't pay for it.

And take Vitamin B. It really does work. I take it for mine.
