A man says,
"sliced tomaters, and fried potatoes. They call them fries.
...I say that's a joke, call it fries.
What, did you leave your sense of humor ont he battlefield?"

Man says it is a joke, but I don't see any jokes in this
Does this mean something funny?

It's kindof deep I think --it isn't really funny but the person saying it is trying to get the other person to laugh. And he doesn't. But it isn't funny. So he says, "Did you leave your sense of humor on the battlefield/" because his joke isn't funny.

Humor is the toughest area of cultural understanding I think. . . keep asking and it might start to make sense. May not ever be funny to you but you'll understand why we think it's funny. . .

I dont understand what your question is. Are you asking about the statement what does leaving your sense of humour on the battlefield mean?

If so, well there is nothing funny about the battlefield is there? That's the meaning.
