Hot water, should be lukewarm, the acid in lemon juice helps to cleanse the liver, to mix the juice with the water is for it to be easier tolerated by the digestive system.

Water in it self helps to maintain body temperature and citrus and great for the health. Lemons are high is Vitamin C and have trace amounts of other nutrients. Drinking it has been shown to help the throat as well.

Truthfully speaking, there aren't any. The hot water isn't good for you. The lemon juice strips the mucuous membranes in the throat and increases mucuous production. It NEVER touches your vocal chords..... Also, the lemon strips the enamel off of your teeth.

It's good for sore throats (unless the water is too hot, in which case you will scald yourself).

from personal experience it soothes the throat, also helps if you plan to sing that day, takes out the dryness and makes the voice clearer.
