Just as I said, I am 37 years old and allergic to mild (not lactose intollerant, allergic to milk). I have been allergic since birth. I am now learning that I have arthritis. Is it too early to ask my doctor for a bone density test? what should i do?

Just don't drink milk. They have SOY milk. It's never too soon for a bone density test. Talk to you doctor about it. There's no need to suffer if you can get something done to help you. Good luck.

Its never too early to get a bone density test. But you need to be taking calcium w/ vitamin D supplements. I am lactose intolerant so milk is out of the question, but I take supplements every day.

Lactose intolerance is usually noted in infants first.. the sign being projectile vomiting. If you haven't tried any of the available products to counteract this problem, then you do have a problem. It was always considered an allergy until they found the offending problem.

What kind of arthritis? Degenerative arthritis does begin to show up by the 3rd decade. Particularly if there have been any injuries to that area. At my age it is in a very advanced stage.. but I remain symptom free.

I believe milk is an allergy that you grow out of. I was allergic to milk also and almost died as a child because it took so long for them to figure it out. Anyway as I got older I began to tolerate small amounts at a time. So now I'm 29 and I can drink up to 32oz a day without feeling the effects. I am addicted to coffee and lattes are my favorites.

Try soy or rice milk. My daughter has never had cow's milk. We drink vanilla-flavored rice milk that is enriched with calcium, and vitamins A and D.

We get it at WalMart.
