Tape worms don't necessarily pass with every bowel movement. In other words, just because you didn't see the worms in this BM, doesn't mean their gone. It just means none passed with that BM.
To Angel: Heart worm treatment doesn't kill all worms. Different types of treatments and preventatives kill more than just the heart worms, but they don't kill ALL worms.

they aren't always in the poop. The segments you see aren't actually part of the worm. They are egg sacs. They contract like worms, but they are not. I was a vet tech and I know about this. They will dry up and then they look like sesame seeds. Fleas feed on these, and become infected as an intermediarry host. The dog then ingests the flea and the tapeworm matures. The the cycle repeats itself.
Sometimes many segments come out, sometimes only a few. Your vet can give you a pill to kill them. It only takes one dose. Don't buy a dewormer at the pet store, because in most cases the medication targets a different type of worm and will do nothing for the tapeworm.
Don't take a stool sample into the vet for examination. Take one of the segments if they want to see anything. A lot of times the receptionist at the vet will tell you to bring in a stool sample and they don't know what they are talking about. Tapeworms are hard to diagnose with a stool sample because the eggs are contained within those sacs. And unless one of those sacks is ruptured in the small sample they use in the test, it won't show up.
Get the tapeworm treated, get rid of the fleas, and you should be good to go!

You may not always be able to see worms or the eggs with your naked eye. There is no harm to worm the puppy as a precaution. I would take the puppy to the vets for a preliminary check-up, chest X-Ray, fecal exam, set up an appointment for the spay/neutering surgery, get the puppy some vaccinations depending on the pups age and health, and have the vet give the puppy some worming medication just to be sure. Once the vet checks the fecal sample, he or she will know for sure if this puppy has worms or not.
Mosts puppys get worms from their mom - mosts puppies experience worms once or twice during their first six months of life.
Try to keep you puppy away from areas where other dogs make potty until your pup has had all her puppy shots and has been wormed. This will help her to stay healthy and remember that she cannot have her first rabi shot until she is one year old, so make sure that your pup is not allowed to be loose in the woods or wooder areas or even in your years unsupervised - someone should always be with the pup to make sure there is no interaction with wild animals that may have rabis like racoons o r squirrels or field mice.
Good Luck with your puppy

because they just are not coming out with the bowel movement. Go to the store and buy some worm medication or better yet, take the puppy to the vet for all of his shots and have the vet give him the wormer because you can only get the heart worm medicaton from a vet and that will kill any and all worms the pup may or may not have. Believe me, you don't want your kids playing with a dog that might have worms because if the dog was to lick their face or hands and the dogs saliva comes in contact with your kids, your kids could possibly get worms. That happened to my cousin a few times.

Take him to a vet. You might as well get the correct answer from someone who knows this sort of thing.
