Well, our cat recently got sick, and after my dad passed away, we didn't have enough money to bring them to the vet, which we haven't had to do yet. But our cat now is sleeping 23 hours a day, and barely eats or drinks anymore, and she sneezes like theres no tomorrow and continues to shed, so we need to bring her to the vet, problem is, we can't afford it anymore, ($65 for the base vet cost, then there's more fees if there is something wrong). We talked to the animal shelter who pays for neutering and such, but they said that if they pay, they will take the cat from us, which my sister said she'd rather have our cat in the short time then lose her for a long time, Is there anywhere that pays for this or are we going to have to choose between giving her up and her staying alive or having her stay with us til the end? ^^;

Have you considered speaking to a staff member at your vets office to see if you could arrange a payment plan for your pets medical costs?

Have you considered borrowing the money from a family member or friend?

I understand your situation, however, your sister may need to put her own feelings aside and consider the health and well being for your pet.

Good luck to you and your family, I am sure it is a difficult decision to make.

It would depend on where you live. I do know that a lot of Humane Society's and SPCA's have low cost veterinary clinics. Have you tried either of these organizations? Even if they don't, they may be able to point you in the right direction.
If you have good credit then you can apply for the Care Credit card. It works just like a regular credit card, but it is strictly for medical care on animals or humans. You might look into that as well. Then you can charge the vet bills and pay them out monthly if your vet doesn't allow you to do that. They also have no interest payment plans.

Also, call around to different vets in your area. They all have different policies regarding the bills. You might just find one who has a program that can help you out.
Good luck and I hope your cat starts feeling better! By the way, how old is she?

Like others have suggested, ask your vet if you can arrange a payment plan. Most are happy to work with you. Good vets want healthy cats and happy clients - that's how they get referrals for more pets.
Is there by any chance a university nearby with a veterinary medicine program? They need animals to practice on just like medical doctors do. They have "clinics" to diagnose and treat animals and the cost is usually quite a bit less than a vet's office would charge.
Good luck. I truly hope you find some help for your kitty.

How about purchasing pet health insurance. Google "pet health insurance" and you'll get some options.

Shop around until you find a vet that might help you out.

They now have pet insurance(which you can look up on the internet or ask your veterinarian about. The cost vary, but for emergency situations it can save a bundle of money
