I am a teenage girl wanting to get into golf simply as a hobby, and I don't want to spend a fortune on clubs and other gear. Does anyone know where I can get cheap stuff or learn how to play golf correctly?

Do not go to Golf world or any other golfing place similar to that. Go to a sporting goods store such as Dunahms or Sports Authority and they prise bettween $85 and $250. Your decision from there. (I would choose a golf package that already has a golf bag included because golf bags are exspensive.)

Golf is an incredibly expensive Hobby, clubs are the least of your costs. Lessons typically Run $50 to $100 an hour, Green fees run $50 a round and up, Course are often not at the next corner and require transportation and gas. Driving ranges run about $15 an hour and it take many years to become proficient. If you don't have wealthy parents willing to pay the huge tab think about tennis instead. To answer your question there are lots of reasonable used club or new Clones available. A starter set, bag and ball will cost less than $200. If you can't afford that you can't afford GOLF.

first of all, buy gently used clubs (they are offered much cheaper than brand new clubs) and only buy a putter, driver, and maybe a 7 iron. don't buy a full set of clubs until u have more experience and know exactly how far ur ability is and u can measure ur shots, and have a keen interest for the sport. second, if there's a public golf club nearby or if ur already part of a private club or sumthing, see if u can set up private/group lessons with an instructor or sumthing. at some of these public golf clubs, there are instructors that offer lessons for a nominal fee. if u don't want to pay for lessons, i'd recommend buying a book on how to play golf or search the web for tips on how to play. and if u want to practice, go to a drving range to improve on ur swing and play mini golf to improve on putting. i am also a teenage girl who pursues golf as a hobby and i went to this very nicely kept public golf course by the jersey shore on 2 of my vacations down there where i took a few lessons, and i practice from time to time at a local driving range/mini golf center in the summer.

Cosco, Big 5, K-Mart. Buy a book and a video. Go to the range. Guys will not be able to resist helping you.

It doesn't really matter what you shoot when you first play. It is important that you don't slow other golfers down and know golf manners.
