Of course Clinton was lying .Anytime he protests that much you have to know he is deflecting & covering up . He refused bin Laden when he was "offered" him by Sudan .He should be called Bungleow Bill - he bungled so much where the military was concerned . In 1998 , Dr. Khidir Hamza , an Iraqi defector , (former head of Saddam's nuclear weapons program ) said it was too bad the Clinton White House doesn't know what needs to be done-in reference to Saddam's secret weapons .
Say what you will about Clinton : a man who has been impeached ; disbarred and held in contempt for lying - he still won't stop trying to sound indignant when he lies to you .

Republicans were all over Clinton because of Monica. Clinton understood that if he were to go in and assassinate bin Laden, Republicans would accuse him of wagging the dog. In fact they did just that with other military skermishes he was involved in. Funny now, they accuse him of not doing enough, but then they accused him of trying to divert attention from Monica.

The point Clinton rightly makes now is that Republicans now say he didnt get him. Well the Bush Administration had all the same intelligence Clinton had, they had 8 months to get Bin laden before September 11, 2001. They chose to ignore him.

The BIG difference between Clinton and Bush is that Clinton made mistakes, and admitted making them, whereas Bush will never admit to anything! He thinks he is divine, part of the Holy Trinity.

Read " Dereliction of duty," by Lt. Col. Robert "Buzz" Patterson USAF (Ret.). They could have had him many times under Clinton. The man that wrote this book, was the carrier of the nuclear football, he speaks of many other ways the Clinton white house compromised our national security.

to answer dstr's response: about 3000 people died on September 11, 2001. That's how many people died when Clinton lied. Oh, and you can add to that all of the soldiers that have died in the war, whose deaths are usually attributed to President Bush.

Lying now...On 3 different ocassions, Clinton was offered Osama, but because he viewed Osama as a criminal instead of a terrorist, Osama wasn't that important. Beside Clinton had his own scandals to worry about. Funny thing Clinton is on tape saying as soon as he'd heard about the attack on the twin towers, he said,"As soon as I heard about it, I knew it was Osama".
