Make another batch of chili mild and mix them. You can put some in a zip lock bag and freeze it for another time.

If it's heat from the chili that's causing the problem, mellow it for a day or so in the fridge. Chili tends to become mellower and less biting after a chill time, and the overall seasoning gets a chance to spread throughout the pot. Of course, if it's flame throwing level, it may take a few days to mellow- and will never really get to a mild level.

Is it possible to make anything too spicy? Especially chili?
You must not be from Texas!

well, if it is a problem with your recipe, obviously--take out chili flakes, etc. but you know that already.

try adding cream or milk to it. (or just serve it with the meal, instead).

or just add cheese on top--in theory, it should act the same as milk and lessen the heat.

adding water would also lessen the heat--but take out lovely texture qualities of chili

Add sugar, a tablespoon at a time, stir into your chilli and taste for the right amount of spiciness.

Add white sugar. Try small amounts, start with 1/4 cup. stir in, taste, add more sugar, 1/4 cup each time if still too spicy until it suits your taste. I have used this method with success lots of times.

I have had this problem before. Add some beans and /or some canned diced tomatoes. Mine was so hot that I added two cans of beans drained and 1 can tomatoes.

Add some olive oil. Olive oil counteracts so many things. Too spicy? Add olive oil. Too garlicy? Add olive oil. Too salty? Add olive oil! It's my favourite ingredient!

I would think, either dilute it with more beans and other ingredients, or just enjoy it in small amounts with plenty of good beer, barbeque, and cornbread.

Are you considering reducing the amount of spices next batch you cook?
