Here is a link for nonbelivers of training a cat to use the toilet. Strangely enough, the trainer was'nt a pet trainer by trade. He was a legendary jazz figure. http://www.mingusmingusmingus.com/Mingus/cat_training.html

This is a funny story. I have two girls that share a bathroom and two cats. Every morning I would walk into the girls bathroom and the toilet wouldn't be flushed and there would be no toilet paper in the toilet so I would talk to the girls about this and of course they didn't do it. They always wipe and flush this was making me mad cause you know its gross. So one morning I heard water running slightly in their bathroom so I went in to check it and there was my cat Jasmine (Jazzy) going to the bathroom in the toilet. I was in shock. The next morning same thing. Yes cats can be trained to use the toilet. Yes it makes life easier. No I don't know how to train them. Jazzy trained herself. Yes Jazzy is a very unique cat couldn't live without her.

I am VERY interested in doing this for my cat. I think it is absurd that so many people respond saying they would never do it, how rediculous it is, or that someone has to have a lot of time on their hands. (also notice how many of those people need to learn how to spell)
Anyone who would prefer to have feces sitting around in clay in their bathrooms are the ones who should check themselves.

I'm so sick of the odor in my bathroom, my apartment is small and would be so much nicer if there wasn't the odor of cat sh*t flying through it. Cats are very smart, and it's only lazy to be afraid of trying these things. Using an indoor litter box is just as unnatural as using a toilet, and it is less hygenic.

If and when I train my cat, I'll post about it.
Thanks for the link!

I was once very intrigued with this idea. It was being done in NY I know where people lived in such high-rise apartments and didn't want to truck up and down with cat waste every day.

I once saw a "kit" for toilet training in a pet store. With six cats in my house if they all used the toilet I would have to get a porta-potty for myself!

I haven't but I've had a friend that has. Its not impractical and its not improbable, the cat actually balanced on the seat and went to the bathroom. Don't ask me how he trained them, I don't know, but I'm sure that it wouldn't be that hard, just like I've seen a dog that fetches beer out of a refrigerator, literally, opens the door and everything.

I did attempt that one time. But it was messy. I bought this kit where the litter was sitting where the opening of the bowl usually is. So it made it impossible to use that toilet for humans. It was just a bad idea. I am personally not patient enough...

I know it can be done, I wouldn't even attempt it. sometimes I have a hard enough time getting a turn in the bathroom and it is just me and my boyfriend, I couldn't immagine having to wait for my cats to get done.

I rather clean the litterbox every night.

toilet train, you mean by using litterbo? i just set him there and let him realize what it is for. and when he goes there, i give him a treat.
if you want a cat using toilets like a person, that would be impractical.

I've never trained one personally, but I do know it can be done. Some friends of my parents trained one years ago. Also, here's something to watch for proof it can be done:

It's impossible. They can't balance on the toilet cover.
