I had a little road accident last week while driving my bike across London. The cab driver, which was parked waiting for a psger, opened the door without checking the mirrors and made me crash onto his door. I had to go to the hopital and got 15 stiches on my chest. Can send him to court because of that ?

You could send him to court, but bear in mind that you can claim on his insurance, especially as he was at fault. I would not sue him because of a mistake that can be so easily made unless he or his insurance is unwilling to settle any claim. Of course the decision is yours and you would need to take proper legal advice before pursuing him through the courts.

what is it about our generation and SUEing? why do you want to sue him? will it give you personal pleasure? are you a money grabber?

If you believe it was an accident then why do you want to put the taxi driver through the suffering of a court case? in our lives we are bound to have accidents- (i've had stitches twice - neither were my fault, nor the results of violence) just let it go!

This American borne culture of sueing is a horrible one, it was an accident, get over it.

No accident is intentional, or it wouldn't be an accident. Yes, I think he's definately obligated to pay for the stitches any damage he did to your bike. He should have been paying more attention and he injured you as a result. There's nothing hateful about that.

You can sue but do you really have to? You are still breathing right? Hence the word accident, it is UN-intentional.

People of this world are lacking of 'forgive-and-forget' and 'gratefulness'. Thats why there is a never ending wars.

We are culpable for our negligence as well as our intentional actions. The penalties tend to be somewhat different for the two.

Yes you can sue if the person refuses to take responsibilty for his reckless actions. It is not hateful to do so. However, check with your insurance company if he did not provide you with his. They will handle the whole matter for you..

Yes, but that would be hateful of you. Just try contacting him to resolve it. You should have talked with him when the accident happened.
