I would think they would cancel your insurance after a DUI.

Lucky me. I got a DUI 2 years ago. My husband and I had been partying, on purpose and in celebration. He got a bit carried away and locked me out of the house. It was 100 degrees and I had no choice but to drive to my Mother's house. I got caught, and boy what a nightmare! Luckily, my insurance company never found out about it. They are a VERY well-known company. In fact, they recently gave me a discount for having good credit!

I don't know how that worked, but my advice to you is to not rock the boat. Don't try to change companies. If they up your rates, then consider alternatives. Good luck!

it gets cancelled and then you have to go to one of the one or two companies in the U.S. that work with high-risk drivers and they charge out the butt. (sometimes 2-3 times what a regular insurance company charges.)

A HELL OF A LOT! Typically a few thousand dollars a year more. It is VERY significant!
