Awww ... you are totally homesick! You are "normal" to be going through that. The same thing happened to me when I moved to Germany @ age nine-teen. It just takes some time to get used to it ... it took me a couple months. You can do it!!! Just be patient and stay busy. Write in a journal. Listen to music. Be creative.

It sounds like you are homesick. Why don't you try going to some events at school to meet new people? Keep yourself busy studying. If you do think you could be depressed, though, make an appointment with a doctor or councilor. Keep in touch with your family as much as you can. It has only been 4 weeks, just enough time to settle in, yet just enough time to really start missing your family! Good luck!
Just a quick note: You were the 1000th question I answered!

It is both, unfortunately, but it can be overcome. Continue to go to class because thinking about your family all day is not going to solve anything. The next thing to do is to find clubs or activities that interest you. The more structured time you have the less time you have to worry, be concerned and or just cry about being away from home. If you cannot distract yourself and you think being away is hurting you academically, then find a school closer to home. Going away to school is not for everyone, but give it a chance. In order to give it a fair chance you have to get involved.

I think its somewhat normal at first. Going away from home for the first time is VERY difficult for some people. Do you have councilors at school? If you can't get over this soon, and it affects your grades, I'd say go see them. I am not a professional, so I don't want to try to give you more advice than that.

it's always hard toi leave home, and to lose the security of knowing your family is close by.It's normal,as a matter of fact I'm going through this with my daughter, after only a week and a half, she has decided she hates the school she is in and wants to come home.Just stay your course,it gets better as you meet new people and start to experience new thing.Don'yt rob yourself of the experience just because you're a little home sick

I would sincerely hope that your inability to stop crying is just being home sick. (I am concerned about your inability to stop crying).
Please review the followign symptoms and if you answer "yes", to five, your are suffering from depression and should see a clinical psychiatrist.
One who will sincerely care about you and have your very best interest at heart. You don't want a psychiatrist, who will just pull out his/her prescription pad and write your and RX. for anti-depression drugs. You want a psychiatrist will listen to you and help you find the root cause of your depression and then find alternative solutions to rid you of the cause without the use of drugs.
1. markedly diminshed interest or pleasure in all, or almost all, activities most of the day, nearly every day (as indicated either b y subjective account or observation by others of apathy most of the time).
2. significant weight losos, or weight gain when not dieting (e.g., more then 5% of body weight in a month), or decrease or increase in appetite nearly every day.
3. insomnia or hypersommnia nearly every day.
4. psychomotor agitation or retardation nearly every day (observable by others, not merely subject feelings of restlessness or being slowed down).
5. fatigue or loss of energy nearly every day.
6. feelings of worthlessness or excessive or inappropriate guilt (which may be delusional) nearly every day (not merely self-reproach or guilt about being sick).
7. diminished ability to think or concentrate,m or indecisiveness, nearly every day (either subjective account or as observed by others.
8. recurrent thoughts of death (not just fear of dying), recurrent suicidal ideation without a specific plan, or suicide attempt or a specific plan for committing suicide.
If having read the above symptons and you have answered "yes", to atleast five, please seek good professional help, like the kind of doctor I mentioned above to you.
Wish you all the best.

Maybe you need to do something fun with them, give yourself some breaks, in between school hang with friends, work puzzles and games, EXERCISE!, draw etc. Email your parents. Waiting for an email while you are in class or doing work can always be a fun feeling of excitement! God bless you! :)
