I don't think people put Jews down any more than people put down any other type of person that is different than they are. Bigots all have their favorites. Some hate blacks, some hate Jews, some hate Asians, whatever. I think Jews are just overly sensitive after the Holocaust. Understandably so, but still oversensitive.

Because they are 'people'. They think that all the Jews are responsible for the death of Christ. Just because someone is a christian/westerner/non-coloured it does not mean that the someone is educated - in the true sense. We have to accept the inevitable until the evolution of man is complete. Some believed/believe that Canibalism is OK.

the Jews are Gods chosen people
there are many many additional reasons for hating them that have been added over the years, but essentially the fact that they are God's chosen is the reason.

Why would any person put any other person down?
Some people are very unsure of themselves. If they can feel superior to someone else, it makes them feel better about themselves.
That's the best reason I can come up with, sorry......

Why do people put down.. Christians .Muslims atheist..any one foreign.different skin color..different sex..any thing that is different to them selves ..because
they are afraid .cowards.. because they don't understand.them and can't be bothered to learn about there fellow human beings so that is why they are pig ignorant.
